Since I play slap bass most often, the fender vintage 74 pickups is the clear winner. It’s that nice crisp sound so similar to my music man stingray.

Thanks for having made this comparison, it really helped me. The Fender Pure 74 pups win hands down, no competition. I am a bit allergic to the sound of the Barts and the last ones are a bit pointless altogether.

Bartolini sounds the cleanest. The other 2 got very dirty sounding at the higher notes above the 12th fret during the slapping. The other 2 pickups were really sensitive and seemed to pick up (no pun intended) a lot of artifact sounds. Some people may like that though.
@majidalizadeh9354 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I can’t disagree with you about the clean sound of Bartolini.
@robbyrob1180 Жыл бұрын
@@majidalizadeh9354 Is this true? Can you demonstrate what @capraobscura claims on another upload to see if the tone can be rolled back on the other two pickups to achieve a clean sound comparable to the Barts?
@majidalizadeh9354 Жыл бұрын
@@robbyrob1180 it might be true. These two PUs have more output than Bartolini specially the fenders. So I should have rolled off the gain a bit. I have both Fenders and Lollars so that I can make another comparison between these two. I just need to find time to make it.

One thing the Bartolinis will have over the Fenders is that they will be a lot quieter in an environment that’s full of electrical noise such as bar or club with neon signs nearby, lots of noisy lighting, etc, especially if you have to solo one pickup.

I like the Fender for its 70’s style tone but the Bartolini has a nice warmth to the low end and it’s smooth. Am restoring my ‘78 Jazz Bass, so decided to go with the ‘74 Fender Jazz pickups. Trying to get it as close to the stock sound as much as possible. Thank you for the comparison. Nice job. 👍👍

@@majidalizadeh9354 I don't have a Lakland, just played one once and watched several demos on KZbin. I play a Clover Apeiron with a Delano TheHybrid set. This comes with a very accurate vintage-style J single coil (JC 5 AL/H) which should be similar to the Lollars or the Fenders. But it adds a StingRay type sound with its special humbucker, similar to Lakland, but a lot closer to the original.

I have some Bartolinis in my Jazz Bass, the 9J1s I think. They sound nice to me, warmish and very clear, but going by this comparison I think I prefer the sound of the Fender PV 74s. They sound a little more dirty/aggressive and forward in the mids to me which I like, it seems like they would sound better in a rock band style mix, whereas the Barts would be a jack of all trades and fit many different styles well enough. Just my two cents! Nice comparison.
