No, it's farther away from japanese than to pekingese. I don't know what mutt this one is, but it's neither of the two.

It's something mixed with a pekinese. I have a pekinese mix too. Their muzzles aren't always as short as regular pekinese

Masaya - No, it's not. A japanese doesn't even come in this colour. And the size? Japanese are smaller than pekingese.

the funny thing is a Tang dynasty 8th century painting depicts a dog that looked exactly like this. ( zhou fang painting) pekingese has always been close to imperial court,
