You should have paired the camera with the 50mm f2 Nikkor-H, a truly wonderful lens that is much sharper than any of the 50mm f1.4 variants in the F mount, even the AF-S version has a reputation for softness wide open. Rumor has it the Z mount version may finally be sharp at f1.4 but I'm holding off on that until I see actual test results. Truth is that I've been "burned" by too many of the F1.4's. Concerning the 50mm f2 H lens, it was released simultaneously with the 50mm f2.0 Summicron and as they feature what appears to be identical designs it's been debated if it was actually designed by Leica or Nikon.

Love this video, it brings back memories of looking at my parents and grandparents photo albums. Many of those shots remind me of the many family gatherings we used to have. Like you and many others, I grew up in the film age and have boxes and boxes of prints and shelves of albums that I have informed my children and grandchildren about their location.

There’s a lot to be said for having actual prints that you can pick up and look through at your leisure. I still have the boxes of photos from family and my grandparents’ photos, as well. I still enjoy sitting down and going through them. Obviously, we can do the same for our digital photos, but I’m guessing that more often than not, we don’t. Maybe the massive quantity of digital photos we create makes doing so un-economical. But I need to start printing favorites, at least.

Great video! So nice to see someone 'discovering' Konica. Regarding exposure compensation ...since it is shutter priority you can just leave the aperture where you set it and adjust the shutter speed until you see the exposure meter needle move to the F-stop you want. I did that lots. Started my 35mm life with the Konica Auto S2 rangefinder (similar exposure system) Many thousands of images from it. I still have it and it still works fine. Beautiful lens and results. I purchased my Autoreflex T3n the week they were introduced in Canada. Mine was the first one sold my city. Again, I still have it and it still works absolutely flawlessly. I primarily shot on Kodachrome 64 back then, using the T3n professionally shooting industrial, weddings, sports and events. Had access to Nikon and Pentax pro equipment at work but far and away preferred using the T3n. I digitized over 8,000 of the images I took with them. Alas most of my work slides went to clients for color separation and printing. Did some weddings on print film too, for the sake of albums but also did some with internegs from the Kodachrome slides. The thousands of slides I kept were shot for my own enjoyment. I still enjoy reviewing those old photos in LrC. Its difficult to find photos that didn't expose correctly or that were blurry. Digitizing all those images made me wish I'd gone Konica with my digital equipment but by then I was fully invested in Nikon.The T3n also improved the film take up by having slots in addition to the sprocket catching the holes. Idea was faster film changes.when you needed them. Someone mentioned batteries. My repair shop re-calibrated the meter in my T3n so it works perfectly with LR44 batteries. Exposures match my Sekonic L358 on 'reflective'. Enjoy your T3!!

I used to have few of these canon T90s and they got fanatic features especially for FLASH photography if you buy. this camera and want to buy the RIGHT FLASH I suggest you buy the speedlight 300TL flash which is dedicated for the canon T90 and it allow lot of opportunities to use it especially for High light and Shadow control and allows you to use up to 8 different exposure reading when using the spot metering and you can LOCK the exposure reading from the camera before taking the photo

I just picked up an OM-4T after wanting one for so long. Mine is a well used copy with parts of the titanium rubbed off showing a glossy sheen underneath. The seller said it was tested and working with new light seals installed however when I'm shooting sometimes the shutter speed and what the meter is saying don't always sync up. For example the meter might say half a second but the camera will fire closer to 1/60 or 1/125 of a second and on the flip side if the meter is giving me any fast shutter speed reading the camera will fire for a full second. I've only shot on Nikon for 35mm and this is my first Olympus film camera so I'm leaning towards returning the camera and getting my money back to look for another OM-4T in better condition.

@vintagecameradigest 19 күн бұрын
Absolutely return the camera. The first one I picked up also had odd issues with the auto-exposure, so I sent it straight back. There are good ones out there to be had. One will pop up soon enough.

What lenses is it possible to adapt for the 57mm mount? Any help would be appreciated! I love my Bronica Model C and I would love to see what else I can mount on it. I have pentax 67 lenses as well as kowa 6 lenses. But I would be interested in try others if possible!
@vintagecameradigest
@vintagecameradigest 21 күн бұрын
I’m not sure if any “off the shelf” lenses would work here. But I have seen in the early Bronica literature references of mounting various leaf-shutter lenses (like those on field and press cameras). If it can be mounted on a short tube with the 57mm diameter thread, it should work. It all sounds fairly DIY to me, but it is possible. In theory.

@vintagecameradigest
@vintagecameradigest 21 күн бұрын
Thanks so very much! I always like to check comments because there are a lot of times I learn something in the process. The Bronica C was the first one (of the series) that I picked up about 2 years ago. A lot of cameras can be said to be “good-looking” but to me, the Z, S, C, and S2 models could be called beautiful. And if you take them out on a shoot, there will be those that want to talk to you about them. Great conversation starters! I hope you’ll find the C as enjoyable as I do. One thing you may want to do is check focus accuracy by looking closely at results shot at infinity. There is some foam under the focusing screen that deteriorates over time, and if it’s never been changed you’ll benefit from doing it. It’s quite easy to do. @the120ist has a video about it that is really helpful. He also talks about replacing the foam under the mirror. But on my C there was no foam, just a leaf-spring. So that was one less thing. The foam you can use is that craft paper foam you can find at craft stores in different colors. And the Kowa, ah yes a camera very sentimental to me. Treat it tenderly and it will love you back. Great lenses!

Hello I'm from France, and i'm an amateur film photographer, only black and white. I've learn the process of developping and making some print in the dark room with a professionnal in Paris (a gift from my wife). I was a very beginner when I got this little training. But time passes, and now it's been 4 years and I got my own little Darkroom in the garage near my house. Metering for a black a white film is such a deeper thing that what i was expecting in the first place. When I started to opeing some books (like the basic manual of black and white photography, 2nd edition from Henry Horenstein), I've stumble upon a rabbit hole. What kind of meter should I use ? What should I do when the contrast of the subject is too bland ? too harsh ? What should I meter for ? How can I make the highlights on the negative more dense without making the black too dark ? What is the true meaning of "expose for the shadows, developp for the highlights" ? I've heard this sentence many time on YT, but i've yet to found someone that can clearly explain this meaning as a WHOLE. And books, when well writen are very usefull for that. Anyway, I really like watching your videos, I feel like you got many things to share, it sounds like you got experience. Keep going ! top quality. Take care

Thanks so much for the kind words! And congratulations on putting together a darkroom so you can experience the entire process. I enjoy shooting film for many reasons, but the “process” is near the top for me. The process and everything it entails. And black and white photography has nuances that color film and processing just don’t provide. It will always be my favorite medium. You’ll find there is always something to learn and explore. Thanks for watching!
