Followed your plan to the T. Studied for 3 months straight. 2/3 was focused on the content, 1/3 focused on question. 3 weeks prior, I switched it 2/3 working on exam questions. I did an exam in the morning and an exam in the evening. Surprisingly, the exam only had 74 questions. Result: 815/900 First time GO!

Fellow Year Up NY Alum. Graduated in 2013 before all of the good stuff students have now was added. It worked for me and worked for my wife. As people who come from nothing, we appear to be doing pretty well for ourselves. Of course you get out of it what you put into, it’s still work. But it isn’t a fluke if that’s what you’re asking.

Guys, this is not the norm. This is an anomaly. Cybersecurity is a specialty that's not easy to get into. From time to time, you'll find the unicorns that got in by either knowing someone or getting finnesing the game. Companies want to mitigate the risks of their multi-million or billion dollar companies, and they will not risk putting in someone with barely any exp to protect their networks and infrastructure. Put in the time, put in the grind for a couple of years. The whole six-figure income after just 6 months of study is ludicrous information.

Much more normal than you think. Especially through programs like Year Up that get you what you need to get started in these spaces. I know plenty of people like this and my colleagues do too.

I've been taking CompTIA courses the past two months, but none of it seems real to me so far. It's all just a lot of memorizing acronyms and abstract concepts and very hands off. Do you think it's possible (or a good idea) to try and go straight into Cyber Security having no previous experience working in IT?

What do you do now ? Do you have to be a dev ops engineer first before becoming a solutions architect? I’m struggling with this
@CharlonClarke
@CharlonClarke 3 күн бұрын
@@bri7193 I personally am not a expert with that I do have Security plus and cloud practitioner and architect is my next certification. Depending on what you want to do there are roadmaps that would be helpful and showing you what you would need. I know AWS does that.
@malikfelix9584
@malikfelix9584 18 сағат бұрын
@@bri7193 nope not at all. You can self study for the AWS Solutions Architect on your own, pass that, and then network your way into an entry level cloud computing role. You can take off from there. Some people like to start with the AWS Practitioner to get their feet wet but you don’t necessarily have to do the solutions architect before DevOps. It just helps.

I appreciate your valuable tips-they really helped me clear the exam with a score of 865. As for my experience, the exam is definitely not easy. There were too many lengthy questions and case studies, making time management crucial. I used Skill-Cert-Pro practice tests, which were very similar to the real exam, with about 80% of the questions being exactly identical. Most of the case studies I encountered in the main exam were already covered in the Skill-Cert-Pro practice tests, which gave me the confidence to choose the right answers. I highly recommend checking them out if you're planning to take the SY0-701 exam. I'm planning to go for the SC-300 next month.

Thank you for your openness and transparency. I think the people talking about your salary miss the point - big salaries ironically make the decision harder in many cases. I love that you are working with your dad - your time with him is limited and this time is special. You did the right thing for you AND your company, which shows integrity. All the best with your exciting business developments. Your nan would be proud of you ❤️

DICE is crap. They post false information. I applied for several jobs that said they were local to me with hybrid or even remote roles. I got a call from them and they said the role was in a completely different state and on-site only. Pay was 20% or more less than advertised. They wanted me to relocate my family for a $50k/year job. No thanks.
