The government has finally caught up and everyone is realizing that you do not need a degree to get a career in tech.
So in this video, I will share where I see this whole space going now even though the government is saying that you don’t need a degree, and where you should start focusing on first to develop the skills needed to get a job in the tech industry.

At the same time that they were making this announcement Congress was also working to slash government employee pay levels, which they consider too high. Not referencing their own pay levels, but everyone else’s pay levels, of course. They’re also trying to remove or impact the pension program that is so attractive to working in the government. So they’re going to start letting people in without degrees but they’re going to treat them like fast food workers, if they have their way. Maybe their efforts to cut pay and pension will fail?

@@BafanaBennet you don’t have to have any of that. But by the same token it depends on the job and situation. That being said everyone in every field and industry used technology. Our situation in USA is actually very disappointing. There we roughly 8-9 million people not working. Quite a few of that # consist of the same people in any form of technology. The job market is nuts. You not having a degree and experience most definitely puts you in general at the bottom of the stack. You having a masters and a PhD sometimes isn’t enough. So think carefully when hearing what she or anyone else is saying. Yes soft skills are always needed. In fact your lack of it will cost you promotions. Yes hard skills are good to have. Reality is so someone else also has the same skills if not more. Keep pushing and learning. Dressing professionally and talking as such, not being a drama filled individual, staying focused and having leadership are good as well. You can just ask ChatGPT for pretty much every pointer known to man. That doesn’t change the fact that over 4 million IT jobs aren’t and won’t be filled and the layoffs are literally around the corner. Stay mentally and physically fit! Keep your head up!

Exactly. Education does matter. They are making it easy for people who didn't do anything or don't have the foundation that a Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology degree offers. I don't understand who these decision makers are and their reasoning. Yet, these same people with no education or just 12th grade education, are being promoted to Senior MGMT roles and can barely write or give presentations when they have to address the public at conferences or other engagements representing the company or agency where they are employed.

For software the most talented engineers don't have degrees. For the rest of tech you need a good grasp on physics, statistics, and math. The degree is simply a test of your character and resolve, if you don't understand that, that's exactly why the gatekeeper is there. If you know, you know.
