The foam stuff idea is great. I did all that. As an ocd gunsmith, I have to constantly improve. I got a diesel damper. ..installed after the pump. The best improvement. I even took all the foam off the pump. Google diesel heater damper.

What are the best links to find a good ambulance?

It looks like you are attaching items directly to the inside surface of the cabinet. Is it that a coating on the aluminum? That’s what I have. A textured, spayed on coating. Did you use self tapping screws? And why did you decide to line your solar cabinet with plywood instead of mounting components directly to the original surface in that instance? (I’m on the fence about it, the one reason I’m considering it is that all of the screws that come with my wiring kits are not self tapping…I suppose I could just switch out for those…).

I am looking for a rear lift like that. Was there a manufacturer label ?

I’m 17 and I just bought a ford e350 and it didn’t come with the other batterys only one small one in the front they took the others out but it still has the inverter and I don’t know if it’s ok if I put 12v li batteries in the place for the others in the back and does the ambulance pull from those back batteries to start or is it possible to keep them separate

Is there a benefit to completely separating the house and truck electrical, or can I just tie in my battery on the house side if the isolator? That way my house battery can charge off the alternator on a cloudy day.

Are you available for hire to do installs for others? I have an ambulance that I am converting. You do such a good job.

I’m not understanding about the noise complaints about the diesel heaters , I have two of them in my house and they sound like a really quiet dryer , Ian’s I barely hear the clicking of the fuel pump I don’t get it .ones a 8kw and ones a5 kw

Great stuff very quiet ,just be aware of the base of the heater usually has a seal on the base (red or black ) this was designed so it seals the base of the unit to a floor so no fumes can leak upward into heater area and then into habitation in the event of any exhaust fail or other leaks .

if that is soft, open-cell polyurethane foam, could it degrade and become sticky over time?

Keith, if you don’t want that Bariatric Lift I could be willing to take that off your hands. I have a 2003 Freightliner M2 Ambulance that I’m slowly converting. I have MS and use a wheelchair 97% of the time and I’ve been looking for those lifts with little luck. I was looking for your email but don’t see it. Is it on a page I’ve not seen, I don’t think so. First of all, nice looking conversion :-). I would be somewhat concerned about the fiberglass exhaust wrap breaking down and getting sucked into the cabin air of your vehicle. It’s hard to see, but the wrap material is constantly shedding fragments of glass.

Get rid of all that plastic and cheap ducting and get semi ridgid dry duct. Home depot has 3" everbuilt semi ridgid duct - it works perfect. It will make 90 degree turns etc and stay in place, wont melt/smell, and is way cheaper and easier for connectors

I did it very simple to ours. Use a car radiator hose. I am into the automotive sector. So i could get one what perfectly fits around the pump. Only the connector part could not fit. Put at the other site whats is free another thick rubber hose into the bigger one so that a lot of the pump is covered with rubber. Big difference according old situation. You can hear it ofcourse but a huge difference than before and at a very comfy level. Think simpel…..

sorry to say but you shouldnt have the pump horizontalit wears out quicker as its not lubricating properly and will be prone to creating air bubbles in it resulting in an inconsistent flow...look up john mack 47 on here,he is really good on them and explain better.

its very hard to explain in words but I built a small plywood box for the pump and suspended the pump with loops of narrow gauge bungee cord so that when you shock the box the pump moves freely suspended in mid air the shock wave made by the pump as it clicks is absorbed by the bungee cord and silences the pump completely two holes drilled in the top of the box over the pump shafts and a looped bungee cord around the pump shaft four loops pulling the pump to the centre of the box so it hangs in mid air seems to work very well indeed, you can still mount the pump easily at 45 degrees. There are also some solutions where others have mounted the pump with zip ties to allow the pump to move as it clicks, the general consensus is to allow the pump to move freely as it clicks thus absorbing the shock wave it produces.

Pump may over heat. Need a heat sink. metal mass mold around pump will deaden the pulse and dissipate heat.

not sure if your pump is vertical at least 30 deg but it should be to add life.

how long does the diesel last?

The ticking is quiet inside and out. That's not a problem for me... But, I do have a problem. I just put on a muffler and it didn't do a thing. I can hear the exhaust coming out still fairly loudly, and I can hear, what seems to be a fan? It's very loud and a bit of a higher pitch... Inside the camper it's fine. But outside it's very loud and obvious.

Hi Keith, I'm just curious about how much of the electric of the original ambulance was left in the box, is the added solar a completely different system. I've seen videos of ambulance electrical systems being a complete nightmare. Would it be possible to add a generator into the old ambulance system when shore power wasn't available. Thanks for any help and answers you can provide, I'm currently weighing different possible vehicles for a future in living a nomad life. Thanks again for your time, Robert.

Great idea, I am going to steal it for my own ambulance! Just a note, if you use the proper crimping tool for your terminal you do not have to solder them. I have worked on airplanes and helicopter maintenance and we always just crimp the terminals.

Good video. I've been running a $150 bar fridge for about a year. It's been great on both efficiency and noise. It's not handled the abuse of bumpy roads very well though. Seems to be a bit of luck in getting a normal AC fridge that can handle the bumps.
