5:00 Yes, as a new COIN player I whole heartedly agree, for least complex start with CL first, next complex would be People Power or Andean Abyss. Going with my interest got me to buy Fire in the Lake and Liberty or Death, those two COIN games are on my "waiting to be tackled shelf" - until I work up to them; however with those CL, PP and AA under my belt, I think I will be going for All Bridges Burning next. Thanks for the video, Matthew, loved your portrayal of the Cuban Government in the teach and playthrough of Cuba Libre with Rodney.

Funny to see this video now (2024) because THIS GAME IS REALLY BROKEN! 😃 GMT released new rules and new cards to try solve the problem🙄

You fail to mention how tiny the text is in the rule book. Knizia games are some of the worst games for ageist design.

I think I was wrong about this game. I expected to like it. So far I don’t. Feels like Underwater Cities with a less satisfying theme. There’s just not much to it. It’s not very thematic or exciting.

For new players, just stcker the units you need for a single scenario. You can move forward with stickering in due coarse. I for one sit down, blast some Metal music and happily sticker for hours.

All of these are games/ expansions I'd like to play, (what are the chances?) thanks for covering them all together: it feels like a real treat to watch this. You say you are short of space, and yet you have some bare wall behind you. With no shelving unit. What gives? 😅😅😅

I love Quo Vadis, pure negotiation, no special powers. Sad that like a lot of games these days its been reskinned with anthropomorphised animals. I'm glad to hear you still remember OG QV :)

Lovely breakdown, not too long and gave a great sense of the ‘feel’ of the game rather than just telling us the rules.

Apparently not that biased a review after all. It seems that the judges of Spiel des Jahres agree with you whole heartedly. This game is now in the same halls as Carcassonne and Settlers of Catan.

My thoughts when you said "a game in the world of The Mind" - what?? The Mind has a world/theme?? But then as you explained it more it does really seem like the world of The Mind! Added to my want to play list!

🤷 Maybe you're right, but it's a game of criminal investigations, so to me it seemed obvious that that means following leads (rhyming with deeds)

Thank you for the video! I agree! Orichalcum is fantastic - a delight of wise design decisions, snappy and fun. I disagree (respectfully)! I think Heat is a fantastic racing game. I disagree with how you describe it, which makes me wonder if you approached it with the right mindset. It's not a "deck building" game; it is a hand management (or deck management) game - you need to navigate what's in your hand and deck. And "heat" is not to be avoided - it's a resource that is meant to be wisely spent at opportune times, though at the cost of it now being part of your deck (and needs to be navigated). Did you try any of the upgrade cards? The are fun powers with which to put the "pedal to the metal"! Enjoy!
@MattyJude2 жыл бұрын
I misspoke perhaps calling it deck building that's fair. But my expectations were very open going in, I wanted to enjoy it but I just found the card play and the actual movement around the board to be boring. I really didn't enjoy the game at all, but I do understand that others love it and that's fantastic. The other modules will be fun to explore and I'd play it if that's what people wanted to play, it just wasn't for me and that's OK.

You can't tell me what to do! I've decided to purchase all of these games without hearing anyone else's opinion. Just try and stop me! For real tho. I love Agricola and I'm a big fan of the Farmers of the Moor expansion. I don't really play it enough to need the variety that the abc decks add but if you do end up getting them I would love to see a review/comparison video.

I get the same vibe from heat. Orichalcum though ive nearly pulled the trigger on, maybe you have helped me pull that trigger now.
@shanerion2 жыл бұрын
The appeal of the gameplay of Heat is the gear management, the heat management, and how you take turns. It’s definitely more than just play cards and go around the track. It’s a game of card counting and resource management.

You literally call Orichalcum a racing game at 1:10, and then say you hate a racing games when you get to Heat. I'm confused.
@grantquiller49522 жыл бұрын
He said it's a "race to get 5 points fastest" whereas Heat is an actual game about racing cars down a track.

Boy, you've almost convinced me to purchase Agricola (not this monster). I've heard it is too long and too boring of a game in the past, but your review has me intrigued. I would try it on Board Game Arena, but I feel I am way too rushed when playing any game there. Thanks for giving me something to think about with this game.
@jgb4unme12 жыл бұрын
good reviews! I have tried Agricola on BGA and wondered how ot would play at 3 or 4. We played a 2 player. I like Caverna too though, but Agricola seems more of a puzzle to me, but might be lack of familiarity. I liked it though!

I absolutely love how you personally can not enjoy something at all (like Heat here) but still be able to recommend it for people that would like it, so many other people fail to do this and just see things on a personal scale for them.
@Wrycon-Inc2 жыл бұрын
Yeah - agreed. As someone who owns and enjoys Heat, it was a really fair and straightforward shake. To me the quality of Heat comes from all the extra stuff - modules, weather, championship. The base game itself is fine and if that was all there is I’d not enjoy the game as much.
