Contentment and not trying to live up to other people's expectations can go a long way in being true to yourself. Be your OWN best friend! Don't count on other people to save you and count the blessings that you currently have.

Is it worth it? Is the best mindset to have. Sometimes it will be worth it. I am a gardener-I bought myself a chipper/shredder (small) for Christmas. I saved back all year by not getting lunch out once a week. A $6 pizza is tasty, but the mulched limbs & leaves are going to be great for my garden! ( and I didn’t starve)

A way to help food cost anxiety is to create a home pantry. Buy extra when on sale and cook out of your pantry.

I had to learn to be grateful that I had the money to upgrade my home with solar power generators and a trifuel generator. Yes I depleted my savings challenge and my savings but I am now prepared for the next emergency power outage. I am thankful that I had the extra money to pay my electrician and HVAC guy to do the necessary upgrades to use my generators. I may have gone overboard with the items I purchased but I am grateful that I am better prepared. 😅

I am so glad mom used to send me to the bank all the time to deposit. As a young teenager, there were not online banking. I learned from that. She sent me to pay bills! Relatives asked me to call up airlines to make reservation. I have had exposure early in life, thank you Lord!!! Dad even sent me to the Pharmacy when I did not even know how to pronounce the name as a youngster. LOL!

We have done it. One time it bit us in the butt. It wasn’t that much and we just absorbed the loss and that relative was off the list.

I have experienced the Power of saving money. With available cash (not credit cards) you feel a certain level of invincibility when you go to the mall, or shop for large ticket items. The stack of cash makes every forthcoming purchase a non-urgent event and that if you don't want it, walk away. The other thing is being able to pay for unexpected events with ease and still have 98% of your available cash. The best part, is to take a big vacation, pay for all of it with your credit card, then PAYING IT OFF with cash you saved for the trip. Now that's FLEXING!!! I learned that from you sis...

We are a debt based society- it feels more natural to most people to make payments than pay for something. There has to be a mindset change.

I have my savings listed as a bill on my budget. Anything over that is just icing!
@ano0706029 сағат бұрын
Yes, this is the easiest way to get your mindset going. If savings is a bill you know you have to pay yourself.

Another superb and important message. I am finding that not buying is empowering, "what can I do if I don't have this thing?" and I always find a solution. I am working on simplifying food/nutrician for myself and I am learning new ways to make food that is quick, very nutricious and very yummy. My new challenge is to incorporate lentils (will do that this week - those organic puy lentils are not going to cook themselves).

Hello, hello!!!👋🏾 I'm fairly new to your channel, and this is my first time commenting.😊 I absolutely LOVE the advice you're giving out. I ALMOST fell victim to the furniture store financing, as it DOES look great, but I'm a smart cookie. WILL PAY CASH. LOL Great video, keep them coming and TFS.🌹

I did not say this but : it is better to have $3,000 in a $10.00 bag the. $10.00 dollars in a $3,000 bag...

Deferred payments don’t mean no payments i always pay more then the minimum but those who don’t know how to manage money this might not work for them I furnished my whole house like this but only buy one piece at a time I think people get in to trouble because they want to finance everything at once

I implemented a strict budgeting strategy to track expenses and set clear limits, while also focusing on a smart investment approach. In just six months, my investments grew by over $50,000, boosting my savings and financial confidence. This combined strategy has set me on track to achieve my long-term financial goals.
@Nancy-1w3 күн бұрын
that’s incredible! What’s the secret behind this strategy? How did you manage to save up so much so quickly?
@Florencewalter-o4s3 күн бұрын
Thanks! The strategy was all thanks to Lorrie Greta Hillard, a brilliant financial advisor. She helped me create a personalized budgeting plan, track my expenses, and prioritize savings effectively. Her expertise made all the difference in reaching my financial goals!

Agree completely with both of these! The only way the furniture store financing works is if you sit down and calculate the payment based on 2 months short of the terms. We've used it in the past and always made a point of paying it off WAY before the maturity date. NEVER pay the minimum on anything.

Never buy furniture on a furniture store credit card. Like you said, they don't charge you enough monthly to pay it off during the period. When I saw that, I immediately paid off the balance and canceled the card. I endeavor to save and pay cash for everything, especially since I'm a senior.

Some people don’t know what an Annual Percentage Rate or Interest Rate on a credit card is. If they did they would pay off their credit card debts quickly as possible. Some don’t see credit cards as money they OWE to a company. The longer you owe it the more it costs you to pay it back. As for vacations your advice is sound. I’m picking places next year to visit that I can drive to or use Amtrak. 😊

I am fully retiring in 2027 and am planning a vacation. I have started saving and in the next year I will put a deposit on the trip. It will be paid completely before I pack my bags!!! I agree I would not be able to relax if I knew the bill was coming due when I returned from the trip!!!

People ask me why I have 6 sinking funds (lifestyle, vacation, birthday, development, car, medical) plus an emergency fund and rainy day fund. I tell them that this way I save for what I want and will need (car repairs, medical expenses, and personal/professional development) I have the money available and just use the credit card and pay it off in full. The emergency fund is for major things like job loss, and the rainy day fund is for if my car or medical funds don't have enough to cover the costs I incurred.
