Im actually wearing a same vibrant blue sweater right now 😂 love the color. Im 20 minutes in and my suggestion is to make the bodice of the blue sweater from scratch out of the more coarse fabric you have and turn the weird cardigan into fantastic bishop sleeves. You could even reuse the trim of the cardigan for the bodice.

Sorry to leave so many. What if the darker scarf on that beige sweater had a style of sleeve that is like an attached wing that lies on top of the sweater and is attached from back bottom, up around shoulder, back down to front bottom? We had something like this in the 70s. Then the sweater armhole is normal, just covered by the 'wings'. I'm reminded of caftans, I think. ??

Very nice! I'm really hoping I can do such things without a serger. What would you think about creating a loose twist out of the sleeve blue and sewing it around the neck, possibly with some hanging down as a scarf would at the bottom of the neck? Or not with some hanging down but just something that looks like a loose, generous braid-like twist along the neckline.

I like the sleeve on the beige sweater, and then can it have a non-gathered 'ruffle' on the bottom of about 6" or more, with the fringe?

*Isn't* it amazing how the colors exactly match these days? I think they're using Pantone across the fashion industry, so they agree on all of the main colors used *exactly*! It really makes it fun to combine some things. (Esp completely different prints with the exact same colors!) Thank you for these videos!

It is such a revelation when you compose with fabrics. Colours suddenly merge and make a new perfect whole. The sleeve to the right makes the pattern rich and would be my choice too, but the left one has such personality, The final top is so delicate in colour - it is just an idea, but your embroidery with the Danish text and H.C. Andersen could make a special set of sleeves?:)
@luzUpcycles5 күн бұрын
Thank you lovely!, that would be a good idea but the fabrics themselves are so different! the knitted vest is so soft and the Danish embroidery one has so much more body, it is a great idea though, I might keep this one in my pocket for a future project! 😁❤️

For the beige sweater and pink scarf: The pattern in the middle would make a lovely front shape. And then I’d use the long wise stripes for sleeves. I wish I could send you the edited screen shot, but I don’t think I can post it here.

@Marie - I think I understand your vision. Do you mean to cut the vest down the centre and insert the center motif of the pink scarf so that the sweater is bigger across the front and to use the edging pieces that you have cut off either side of the centre motif for the sleeves?

Thank you for sharing (and honouring) these artworks! They are so lovely and I can appreciate why you've saved them. I've rescued 4 such pieces myself that I've made into cushions. They don't match but are all geometric patterns. Using some of them in your creative makes will be gorgeous. And others displayed is lovely too. They are getting admired and treasurered so I think the original maker would welcoming your use in whatever way you are inspired (much better than in the garbage heap). 💟

The last white squares would be beautiful in a white peplum top. One piece for each front & back for the bodice, then some other fabric for backing and sleeves,and then some lace for collar, sleeve cuffs and peplum! Beautiful in my head anyway! The Greecian goddess I see on a gold bedspread or comforter; damask maybe?!

Hola. 😊

Thank you so much for taking us with you into your collection of needlework! They would make some gorgeous backs to a jacket or a long dress. The one "Livet er selv det dejligste Æventyr/life itself is the loveliest story" - is Danish 😀, my own language - they are of stories by Hans Christian Andersen. Thank you for highlighting the work of women!

Those all are lovely. I believe they are all cross stitched not embroidered. Personally I believe they are more suited for framing to admire and would not cut them. For your purse you might want to fold the oval one and line it then stitch it into a metal purse frame. This would keep the beauty of the tapestry intact.
