Is there away to only have windows install and a outside plug to run a generator to power lights and ac?

Is the weight distribution an issue? the battery packs are at the back passenger side and the heavy water tanks toward the front driver side? Doe the weight need to be evenly distributed?
@JamboJ19 күн бұрын
I have a 2024 promaster converted into a RV Not very heavy in my opinion, what color sumo spring should I get? Right now the ride in the back is pretty jarring and bouncy.

I'd say you missed a critical interior option. I think its labeled Storage or something, but gives you the little package shelf above the visors. That space is SO useful for quick access items while driving.
@outtherevans21 күн бұрын
You are completely right that this may make a nice addition for some folks, but for a general video like this I actually left them out for good reason. As a tallish person, these drop the visors position down about 4” and makes them unusable if the sun is coming in through the windshield. They either fully block any line of sight, or must remain in their closed position. I tend to specifically seek out vans or spec them without this option, but I am glad that they work well for you and you can take advantage of that extra storage. 👍

Do we have to use the base van's a/c on hot and humid rest stops ? What would a minimal roof top r/c and a/c generator option look like ? As others have asked , always a ball-park price would really help.

Is there any reason you did not insulate behind your panels? I was thinking about removing the old door panel and installing thinsulate. Maybe it's not worth it?

Really helpful review, and for that a big thumbs up. I was basically settled on purchasing a Promaster as the platform for building out an RV van. But when you opened the front passenger door at time 3:20 and I saw that ridiculous looking toy-like partial door panel, it was an instant no for me. What a cheap-looking ridiculous toyish piece of crap. And to think I was pricing out the just the basic cargo van with super high roof and extended length with a few factory options to nearly $70k. What a rip-off. This van should be priced at a maximum of $35k out the door with basic options....and tax, title and tags included. And I'm being generous with that amount...very very generous.

Why are all the openable windows so ugly? Both T-vent and slider just suck. Aren't there windows that would just slide into the wall, similarly to the cab side windows?

It's a beautiful set-up with so many possibilities. But, base price of over $8000 for a shell is ridiculous. Then more $$$ to customize. I might as well get the Bronco Sport and a blow-up matress. JS

I don’t really know much about the differences, however when I looked (2024?) up the exterior height of the Ram Promaster 1500 high roof it was 103.6” and the Ford Transit Med Roof LWB was 101.3”, and the Ford high roof LWB was 109.6”. So You must be comparing the Ram Promaster to the Ford high roof but there should only be a 6” exterior height difference not a foot as you described, even though the Ram looked so much shorter than the Ford in the video?

Check your auto insurance coverage FIRST. You need commercial insurance for a Promaster, and it's expensive. I have the Stubby 118"
@Vera-xu3xw2 ай бұрын
I've never heard of that and I have a promaster
@Zyzzyx4221 күн бұрын
Likely depends on your state and your insurance company. we've had two Promasters in WA, and zero need for commercial insurance or registration.

Very minimalist and perfect use of space. I never fully understood the 2 burner setups. Do you have options for a single electric plate style cook top? Tow hitch?
@outtherevans4 ай бұрын
Yes we do! Induction cook tops can be integrated in, or a portable plug-in system. Tow hitches can easily be added on, and are often already configured on vans from the factory. Thanks for watching!

Nice comparison but one thing: just because a town has a dealership doesn't mean that the dealership will service your van. I've driver coast to coast with my 2023 Ford Transit and only found one Ford dealer in Indiana that was willing to give me the first oil change on my van let alone fix any of the warranty issues I've found. All the others told me no, the minute they heard it was a converted camper van--even by a Ford-certified camper converter. So, so much for picking a vehicle based on a wider dealer network, which is why I ended up with this bucket of loose bolts and plastic bits. And the fit and finish is abysmal. Light, wind and even water comes the doors. Inside, some of the vinyl and plastic bits have wide gaps between them. They should hire some Lego engineers for lessons in what can be accomplished in fit and finish with plastic. And the ride: better than a bucking bronco if you restrict your driving to very smooth roads and take curves very, very slowly. (Only truckers driving semis appreciate that speed--and even some of them don't.) The driver's seat is OK, but I don't have any back issues so even for long distance driving I could probably sit on a rock and be fine.

I've found the noise difference to be relative on both. I do not have exact tool to show the precise decibel difference, but no notable difference overall.
