This is an excellent album. How was I unaware of its existence? This is the best post Sabbath music from the original members. Great job Bill!

This live version is vastly superior to the studio version. The guitar in the lead as opposed to synths is so much better.

Listen to Duck Dunn on bass - man what a fat sound, amazing tone, groove and timing - a little too much Stanton here for my taste, his piano sounds like a toy - I way prefer Chuck Levell and Billy Preston - some Hammond B3 would have been nice - the drummer was from Oklahoma and those Okie boys can sure play - about 9 years after this Eric re-discovered his magic with the FROM THE CRADLE tour and album

Way before my time, and not a huge Clapton guy but this song is his undisputed best - especially this rendition. So fun, so fast, just perfection (I am writing this at 3am pretty messed up post bar lol)

He has a nice warm voice. Believe it or not, he actually sang on a Sabbath song- "it's alright"- on their album "Technical Ecstasy", an album which as a whole gets slept on. Just listen to the first three tracks (the third is its alright where ward sings), I can guarantee you're going to love it.

Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix are the two best guitarists of all time. No doubt. Full stop. Period. They both became one with their instrument. We're not worthy.

That’s some excellent drumming by Jeff Porcaro. You young drummers should watch how his drumming compliments the music. When a drummer works the song, meaning not over playing or under playing his instrument, but plays the spaces in the song in contexts of the song, you compliment the song. When your playing compliments, you actually make the other players and singer sound better.

You're absolutely right! Clapton's drummer, as well as his other backup musicians, know that they are there to ENHANCE, not OUTSHINE, the artist's song. The drummer is spot-on when it comes to this. All-around, this is an excellent live performance! 🎶🎵🎶

Eric was generally good at acknowledging (Black) song authors unlike others such as (cough) Led Zeppelin so it may be that his treatment of this as trad rather than as by Blind Willie Johnson is right? Others more knowlegeable? Meanwhile nice slide work

Wow! That was fast! It actually felt like it was speeding up during the song. LOL Nothing wrong with that. Music should speed up and slow down occasionally. It makes it more real and organic.

I've loved this song since I was a kid and it came out in '74. Took up drums later in life. STILL cannot truly get this amazing groove down. I play a dumbed down version that literally no one but other drummers realize is a comparatively weak wheeze compared to the original. Someday I'll get it right.
