My 1st up grade were tires. The IRC tires that come stock were awful. I did pirelli mt 21 on the front and dunlop d606 with a tubliss system on the rear. HUGE improvement

Got a 23 230sm on a whim and not a single regret, 5-11 215 lbs just cruising. Around sipping gas, hot summer days nothing better than a small easy going bike

Stock tires are horrible, swiped mine after 2months. 100 in front 110 in the rear making a HUGE deference. The 230 is an Awesome bike.

Love mine. Youre right regarding the price point being great so you can take it out off-road and not worry if you scratch it up a bit. Ive got around 2k miles on mine and have had no trouble at all with it

I have the 250 and have ridden 130 to 140 miles several times and had 1/2 gallon left each time out of my 2 gallon tank . 150 miles would not be a problem.

Rode this bike for my MSF class. Fun bike and yes the seat is horrendous. 6 hours for two days make you extremely sore.

The stock front tire is treacherous in the sand. It had to go before 1k miles. Kenda Track Masters front and rear made it a whole different bike, amazing now.

I like the 6 gears & being air cooled.... Ohh, price as well but I'm afraid my intent for using it 80% on roads and no way around the use of the Interstate, I might need to see if the 300 can better serve my needs? I do like her. peace

The 300 feels like the same bike, but with a little more power. Its a great bike for sure!

I've got 10-11 dual sport bikes I'm researching & I mean all the MOD's -n- Costs on them, what benefits, and even the order I'd want to do them. Post purchase costs are hardly ever considered but I'm so poor that I'm doing all of this while I save. The KLX wasn't on my list early on but I've discovered for the price it's worthy of a good look so I'm here visiting you. What I've learned is that if you put all 11 bikes I've listed into a Draw & picked one out & it would be my choice ; I'd be fine with it. That said, any of the Japanese bikes would probably last a life time & the only needs would be tires, foot-pegs, and regular maintenance type stuff. The big bikes I'm looking at are the KLR650, DR650, Honda 650L, 500x, and 2 450's, DRz400 down/down to the Honda150L. They are all being looked at & top of my list is the DRz400, Honda Rally 300L. But I'd be happy w/ a Yamaha XT250 & I've got a good idea about all these, short comings, costs for most needed stuff. This KLX was a late entrant but I've kinda seen that most of these would do & I could make them work just fine due to so many great videos by numerous channels. The KLX has made it up to my 2nd choice list but the importance of what all I've done in researching all of these is I know most of what to look for wrong in each, along w/ most good mods and all this will help should I buy a used bike...... plus I've met alot of people. I've not ridden in over 30 yrs which is part of the reason I'm not against a smaller weight bike. But this KLX300 has caught my attention & it'll be early winter before I can afford much. Thanks for the video & I'll be looking at other vids you did. peace

1:35 .. 6 inches shorter wheelbase than the DRZ? Are you sure? Seems alot shorter.
@dualsportjourney Жыл бұрын
I just looked into this again after seeing your comment and found a couple different measurements. The available info on DR Z400 seems to be pretty consistent at 58.5" wheelbase. The KLX230se seems to show a couple different measurements depending on where I look. The two measurements I see most often are 53.5" - 54.3"... so I think the real difference in wheelbase length would be more like 4"-5". Good catch, and as always thank you for stopping by!

Kinda pricey when a KPX250 china bike is $2900. I'd like a side by side comparison.. any KLX230's OR KLX300's near Annapolis, MD? The KPX has a gas gauge and I'll wager Mo Powa than the 230..
@dmac5916Ай бұрын
They don’t hold there value at all and most definitely won’t last nearly as long or be as refined. Japanese quality is top notch while china just makes cheap disposable crap, or replicas that are worse than the og no matter the product. I wouldn’t buy a it for $1500 let alone 2900 😂

have you had to buy a battery yet? My brothers New bike..5 days...My 230 SM lasted 26 days.....
@dualsportjourney Жыл бұрын
Wow, sorry to hear that! We have had no trouble with the battery. Even after the bike sit for a couple months through the winter, it started right up when we first took it out of storage.
@uncletom1971 Жыл бұрын
My KLX230, bought here in Sweden in the end of 2020, had some sort of charging adapter connected. Probably due to the bike sitting at the store for a long time. It was the only KLX230 around Stockholm (black plastics with ABS) and it had been there for about a year or so. When I bought it I instantly located the battery to charge it over night, and I top-charge it about twice a year. I've not had any problems with the original battey yet. Also mind that cold below freezing does make the battery go bad if you don't actively charge it now and then.
