I received a Rotary watch for my 21st birthday, so it’ll be coming up to forty years old in a year or so. 9ct gold, quartz movement, Roman numerals - just sitting in its box in my bedside drawer, bruised and unloved and not running. Possibly just needs a battery, but after watching a few restoration videos I’m tempted to get it professionally serviced so it’s up and running in time for my sixtieth birthday 👌

❤ Ur videos. Another excellent presentation. Is it true that Lewis Hamilton sued Hamilton Watch for using his name?
@TimesTicking5 күн бұрын
@yellowbiker7286 Thank you! Thanks for your support! Also - Yes, Lewis Hamilton, through his company 44IP, was involved in a legal dispute with Hamilton International, the watchmaker, over the use of the name "Hamilton." The issue arose when 44IP opposed Hamilton International's trademark registration in Europe, arguing that it could affect the racing driver's brand. However, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) ruled in favor of Hamilton International, citing that the watch company had been using the name since 1892, long before Lewis Hamilton’s career. The case highlighted trademark complexities involving shared names, with the ruling affirming the watchmaker’s longstanding rights to the "Hamilton" trademark.

Bought the Eco Drive 19 months ago, it's the limited edition Red Arrows model, what a beautiful watch! I left it in a dark drawer in its original packaging for about 8 months, the battery charge remained the same and the time was precise up to the second.

That's why railway workers back in the late 19th through mid-20th centuries needed to get their pocket watches inspected every 15 days. Those watches were regulated to 5 or 6 positions, temperature (necessary in the cab of a steam locomotive), and isochronism. Anti-magnetic properties were required once diesel--electric locomotives were in use.

I once bought a cool analog quartz watch off AliExpress for $17 including shipping. When it arrived, I thought the crown was stuck and the watch was DOA (it was a Chinese watch after all 😂). It turns out, they put a plastic lock on the crown stem from the factory. I had to rip it off before operating the crown. The watch worked lile a cham afterwards. I wore it all day every day for about 4 years until the movement gave out.

Seiko Kinetic is for the one watch man! Sorry guys. Seiko Kinetic is a no-go unless you only have one watch and walks it every day. My kinetic has been returned to Seiko in Munich for replacement of the capacitor. I have more watches and only wear it occasionally. That means it goes all dead. It takes several days to get it running properly again and you are not able to rewind it unless you shake it for several hours. I have given up on it though it is a beautiful GMT diver. Cannot recommend Kinetic. I think every one will regret unless you only have 1 watch and wear it all time
