I think this is the case , but not the main point on the older boxes , the dollar prices are cheaper because the yen has crashed to ¥161 against the $ and ¥203 against the dollar £. This makes a 10% difference just in the last 6 weeks.

That maybe the case as well, it's just simpy a currency difference

Would the price drop just be based on a weak yen?
@CollectPokemon3 күн бұрын
That is likely, and not just weak yen, but a prolonged period of weak yen. I think with weak yen in 2023, the Japanese seller simply just raise the price, but this time around, they can't really raise the price as many seller want to flood out the supply

Recession, that has always been the marker that causes things to fall in price. Good vid, dont forget though the amount of people that buy these prices even in a 10-20% price drop are still keeping it sealed. Most people that buy bb that are 3-4x msrp are buying to invest or sell to someone else for a mark up. The majority of these won't be open so the quantity remains relatively the same js

I personally believe that the rip and ships that youtubers/whatnots/otherplaces do are drastically increasing prices of the sealed product, I mean if i was holding onto a bunch of sealed and had an audience to buy up product, I would purchase other people's product and have people pay to open them up and that would not only allow me to make money from the rip and ship but also my inventory gets more expensive in the process. That is my conspiracy

Lost Abyss reprint is huge. I don’t want to dump $400 into a raw Giratina alt art (English), so having the Japanese card go down in price makes for a good pickup.

Will the Japanese card market continue to crash?: Yes
@tobypropes5 күн бұрын
It's not crashing. MSRP on japanese boxes has remained the same as always. Prices are finally falling to align with that. Not great for all the folks that paid well over $100 a box for all these different sets, but product is being printed to the moon now, and sellers just aren't making the massive margins selling they used to. Put that into perspective. MSRP on a japanese box is $50 and it's sold for $150. That would be like a US booster box with an MSRP if $120 selling for $360 at release. For everyone into japanese, which I definitely am, we are having a hay day with this!

@@tobypropestrue. If we go back to 2020/2021 market values then a lot of cards still have a lot of room to fall. I can t remember a single s/m card that was more than 6k yen back when it was released. Most GX tag team cards were around 70-100yen so technically most popular AR/CHR should drop to that mark aswell which most of them aren t right now( popular AR are between 400-2000yen). I can see cards(especially bulk AR>) fall by another 50-70%.

What I can say for sure (in my mind at least lel) is that 151 Japanese boxes will rise quite a bit within a year. People that keep saying it got reprinted too much simply don't understand the demand for something like that, I have normie friends that simply know about the vintage stuff from when they were kids that ask me to buy them a box of 151 here and there and have so much fun opening them even though they couldn't care less about modern. I really cannot see this box not going places within a year. That said I don't really care, I have a few boxes and I intend to set them aside for at least 5 but in any case the only thing we can do is wait and see :V

When considering the game play and the collecting niches as of today, we haven't really seen S&V come out with a true banger set yet. Seems the overall consensus many fans are not happy with the newer Gen Pokemon as well. I think we are definitely in the 2017-2019 era when after XY Flashfire, the TCG aspect of Pokemon really fell and we truly didn't see a comeback till Hidden Fates, over 3+ years and 26 sets later. I see S&V staying the same thru to the next set. Maybe another banger set comes out but overall, I think we are in a stale period once again. But history taught everyone, those who stayed in Pokemon thru this first Quarter of the Century, it has paid off big time for them. Many becoming Millionaires for "staying the course". But you said it perfectly, if you have the financial means to sit on product and not have to fire sell for money needs, you're sitting good.

In a short run like 3 - 5 years, everything will go up like crazy, but in a long run like 20 + years, everything introduced after 2020 will crash and never recover. People are underestimating the amount of products sleeping in those investors' closet. When these modern products go out of stock, it simply means they moved from store shelves to people's closet, not supply drying up.
@bejanghavami55858 күн бұрын
This could potentially be true, however you’re forgetting about the kids. If Pokémon is able to make better games I think a lot of the young fans will be buyers in 20+ years. It could swing either way just depends on how many people sell their products sitting on their shelves in the next 3-5 years
@Gengar5588 күн бұрын
Possibly, but have you seen whatnot, drip, TikTok and other live rip and ships. It’s crazy the amount of product that gets ripped compared to years ago
