Ivan, Your videos have been a great help to me in writing my SoP! They've assisted me to write an SoP that got me an interview at the University of Washington. Part of this interview includes a Q&A session and writing prompt, which takes place tomorrow morning (the "actual" interview is Friday). Do you have any idea what I should expect and/or what kinds of questions I should prepare? Btw I applied to their Secondary Teacher Education Program. Thanks in advance! :)

Congratulations! I have a video on this channel focused on potential interview questions and how to answer them. Basically they are going to ask you why you want to become a teacher and how the program will help you achieve your goals. They might ask you why you applied for that particular program and where you see yourself in five years. They might ask you about your teaching philosophy and your teaching experiences. Good luck!

Do you suggest I start my introduction with a personal anecdote? Is it as impactful as directly diving into how the programme will benefit me?

You can, but you have to make sure you don’t spend too much time telling the story. It should be concise and to the point. Don’t bore the committee. I usually recommend the introduction is formatted like I described in the video and the paragraph that follows is the personal anecdote. Good luck with your applications!

How heavily weighted are extra-curriculors and other outrside of school activities? A lot of SoPs from ivy-Leagues have people who have created companies, or worked in the UN before coming to grad-school. I, unfourtunately do not have those types of "world-beating" activities on my CV/Experience. Mainly, what I have is a lot of research experience, on top of two publications. I desire to apply to graduate programs, and i am wondering how do you think it is best to emphasize those qualities of mine?

I didn’t have any of those either when I applied and I was able to get into Harvard. The key is not necessarily the extracurricular or job experience it’s the way you tell the story behind why the program is a good fit for you and how attending those programs will help you solve world issues in your field.

can journal publications (book chapters/ review articles) give you “research experience”? i mean besides the “publication” section in the cv, can i include that i have worked under xyz professor on a few topics and published first author articles in a separate section of “research experience”? my field is biological sciences and the journals include Springer, Elsevier, Taylor n Francis, Wiley and No conference publications. (by work again i did not mean any wet lab work, only research-review)

I am not sure what your question is. Research experience section on a CV could focus on your explanation of the research you have conducted. This means that you have posed questions, used methods to find answers, generated results, related the findings to practical or research implications. If you just published book chapters/article reviews those should be placed in the publications section of a CV. You could also ask the faculty mentor if the work you did is considered research.
