Weather wool makes a great product. A note: minus 33 makes a merino base layer in coyote..

Hi P I just wanted to say I love your videos and the positive attitude you guys have. That muddy portage was cracking me up as we did something very similar a couple weeks ago between Moose and Mountain. I'm doing this same route in 2027 and appreciate every video you have made as it helps me fill in the gaps from my own experiences. Can't wait to see part 2.

Voyager here, enjoying your 1st installment of the Voyageurs Challenge. Looks like I made the right decision cutting across the pyramid to avoid the wind on Lac La Croix. I also lucked out on the mudhole on the Monument Portage. A couple of guys warned me it was waist deep. I hugged the right side, stepping right at the base of the tag alders it was only ankle deep. I enjoyed the video of the Greer Lake shortcut. I was going to try it in 2023 but that 1st little pond was dried up. Looking forward to part2.

I really like these! But you gotta get them young, or else they're a bit tough for my liking. I will say that they impart a superb flavor to any broth - a great ingredient to throw in for extra umami flavor.

"better than morels" is a bit of a reach. The general consensus is that pheasants back/dryads saddle is a consolation prize when you cant find anything else tasty to bring home

Timing the harvest is important... I've noticed that later season pheasant backs have a more potent taste that's less appealing by far. Try some in the early spring and let me know if you think it's any better.

They also have camp sites available if you need to plan a night of rest before heading out on the river. I hope this helps... Let me know how your trip goes.

I made an apron from a contractor garbage bag and some baling string. It's lasted three years so far. I did my first "real" brain tanned deer hide this year. Turned out good so far. I haven't smoked it yet but it seemed to work pretty good. Mine had ticks too and his neck was all tore up. Looked like tick bites or bot flies or something. Got to say with all the crazy sh!t with deer these days I might go with pig brains next time. I've had good luck with soy lectithan , soap , and veg oil. I've heard the smoking is what actually tans it and the fat liquor is a lube that keeps the fibers seperated while softening. I wanted to try it the origanal way at least once.
