Thanks! I'm sure a glider in these colours would make a very striking machine. I'm sure the Dutch in 1944 would have been delighted to see the Allies arrive in orange planes. Then again, they might have been very conspicuous to German flak batteries aswell..

I'm a rather young fellow and haven't build a kit yet, how easy would you say it is to build this particular kit?
@KitKabinet2 ай бұрын
Hi, and welcome to the hobby! Built straight out of the box this model (and in fact most models from the HobbyBoss 'Easy Assembly' line) is about as easy as you can get. The catch is that they often have simplified detail compared to more advanced kits, but they look pretty nice nevertheless. Note that this specific build has some extra details and different markings added.

It's become one of those intriguing 'found footage' videos.. 😉 I haven't seen anyone build a cutaway from this kit yet, but there are actually some madlads out there who have motorised it as an RC model (including submersible capability) and with torpedoes that can be fired 😲

You're welcome! I don't know if it's possible to get a tone that dark for the Viking canopy with acetate sheet; I have never seen this material in that exact colour. How can I use an existing acetate canopy as the master?
@KitKabinet7 ай бұрын
Although I have never tried it, I think it may be tricky to use an existing acetate canopy as the direct master. 1) Acetate canopies are typically very thin and may buckle under the pressure of the vacuum. Of course the master canopy can be filled (eg. with putty) to withstand the pressure, but.. 2) since the heated acetate sheet is made of the same material, it may still deform or even stick to the master as it transfers its heat. 3) A canopy formed over the master will also be slightly bigger, and fine detail from the original may be lost. You could try to make a plaster mould over the original acetate canopy and use that as a 'female' mould, but this is a much more elaborate procedure than the method used in this video. Hope this helps.
@morback837 ай бұрын
Hi, can you seal it by brushing the varnish on?
@KitKabinet7 ай бұрын
I would not recommend brushing it on; the pigment particles will most likely mix with the varnish and then smudge along with the brush strokes. With a sprayed varnish (in light several light coats, and letting it dry between the spray sessions) the varnish mist will settle and stay right on the spot where it is sprayed. Hope this helps.
