Great presentation. I know I am "putting the cart before the horse" but I have been adding 2ml of 70% phosphoric acid per 60l of water which is bringing my water pH down to 7 (very hard water here) , but it means my mash comes out about 5.6pH.

Hello guys! Thank you for the great explanations. You did it, I'll get the fermeter with the cooler. One more question please. Which pump did you use to transfer the wort? With a separate one or the one from the G40? Thank you very much and best regards from Germany. Manuel
@Imprez199923 күн бұрын
I use the built in pump, no need for a separate pump

Hey there! I’ve been using the glycol chiller for two batches as of now, but somehow the temperature won’t get down to 39F… it’s stuck between 43-45F while trying to cold crash. Do you know why this might be happening and how I can surpass this problem?
@Imprez199923 күн бұрын
Do you use a jacket on your fermenter? Besides fermenter insulation ambient temperature also matters when you are trying to cool as low as 39F
@PulpBrewingCo22 күн бұрын
@ yeah I use a jacket on the fermenter and in a somewhat colder room inside the house. So technically, I should be able to reach colder temperatures

Is there is downside to pitching it into a 5-gallon carboy of an Orval clone? They pitch a second strain of yeast and brett after 5 days, then wait 3 weeks before bottling

Very helpful! I think my first all grain will be a Pilsner. 30 years ago I made an all liquid malt extract Pilsner that was amazing. I will try a similar brew doing all grain.

Squeeze the bag if you want. It's personal preference and won't hurt the beer.

If you’re making hooch at home, you just have to shake it up and keep the lid off for a second. Then squeeze some of the air out and put the lid back on.
@nickcarter3257Ай бұрын
Independant of accuracy on FG reading, you can use it as indication of change to see that the fermentation is no longer changing the gravity and it finished. Or stuck, in which case you should be able to see significant difference from expected FG.

don't you lose some of your carbonation though? no one likes a flat beer

why does it need to be stored in a quiet place? Is fermentation altered by noise?

Question please... If i need to place the faucet taps 2 feet away from the collar/fridge... can i just run the tubing out of the gas distributor in the collar or is it better to place the CO2 gas distributer away from the collar and next to where the faucet will be? Trying to avoid extra foam or pressure issues. Thanks

Nonsense. Just put your dried hops in an old plastic bag, like from your grain, and store them in your garage until you are ready to use them. I have used hops stored 2 years in this manner and they worked fine.

How about freeze-drying? There household models available, so more and more people have them. I have one...but I don't have a hops plant...yet.

I purchased this kit last year. I used the Red Ale kit to brew and used Nottingham Yeast. It completed fermentation in three days. I then went to bottling and it was ready to drink with carbonation complete in 5 more days. Took a total of 8 days and turned out good. I've since got a stainless steel wort chiller to cool the wort sooner (ice bucket takes too long). You guys are my go to for ingredients now and I'll likely upgrade my kettle to a Gigawort Kettle soon.
