You really don't know what it costs to make a product. When you build a product you don't just put some components together and call it a day. You might have to spend first 2-3 years finding suppliers, making prototypes - all the while you haven't been paid a SINGLE penny for your time and effort. Judging from the look of the device I would guess it costs at least 200 dollars to build - which means there is some margin on top of it but if you knew anything about running a business you actually need to sell a product for at least 3X the cost of production to have some kind of business. Basically 1 part goes to paying the original product, 1 part goes to re-ordering it, and 1 part goes to labor, rent, shipping, insurances, software, returns, marketing, faulty items, etc. I would LOVE to have you demostrate how you will make this product with 20 dollars at this quality AND make it widely available to the public. What most people don’t realize is that their Platform X+ extender is not just an extender. If you are looking for a perfect MIDI fader controller, with 8 motorized faders, this one should be considered. So, to be clear, it is usually discarded as the extender unit, but for me it is the perfect 8 fader MIDI controller that I use to control my VSTi’s and sample libraries. It does not need the base Platform M+ unit to function, so you can work with just the extender. (I have a separate large DAW controller for that purpose).
