This looks cool. I currently use tools to ask questions about the book. That's a great way to get more insight fron the books as well. I currently have a list of 100 books I'd like to read this year and using these AI tools has been helpful. No nore having to read a thousand page book page by page. Since a lot of them could be 1 to 2 articles. Which eventually gets very boring.

I have the second Edition. of The Net Bible. I like it and some very interesting. I got it as a hard Copy. So if I do not have power I can do some reading. I use about 20 study Bibles that I jump from one to the other in Hard copy. I Have the First edition in Logos. Nice having both to look at them. But a good review for the use. And the reason to have both versions to look at. I am not a Greek or Hebrew reader. But with logos I can dig deeper.

PT, what version of Logos has the summarizer tool. There is no Logos Pro version?
@PastorTanner10 күн бұрын
Logos Pro is I believe an early access version of some of the AI tools they are launching site wide later this year. I’m not sure if they are still taking signups. But I would expect these tools to be widely available very soon.

I am assuming that you have to buy the book from Logos that is to be summarized, right?
@PastorTanner10 күн бұрын
Yes, but as if now I believe Logos has a 30 day money back guarantee policy on purchases. So although it is a little more work, I believe it would be fine to purchase a handful of books, run summaries on them and decide if you want to keep them or return them. 🤷♂️

Pastor Tanner, Not to beat a dead horse, but does your view of Compatibilism ever explain why it is that we have the specific desires that we do which cause us to decide to do what we do? In other words, do we choose to have the desires that we have, or are those desires given to us?
@PastorTanner11 күн бұрын
I’m willing to entertain multiple interpretations of this. It is sort of chicken and egg. Our sin natures cause us to have sinful desires, but our sinful desires and actions imprison us in our sin nature.
@jazzmankey11 күн бұрын
@@PastorTanner😀Ok, I get that. But I didn’t choose to have a sin nature. [Rom 5:19 NKJV] For as by one man's disobedience many were MADE SINNERS , so also by one Man's obedience many will be made righteous.

Since when Christianity became bouffet style. Salvation through DNA is simple not a teaching of Scripture, but it is now an individual choice of a Jew and a Gentle.

A couple of thoughts come to mind: 1. Not every doctrine is equally clear and some secondary and tertiary doctrines might allow for a variety of approaches and remain orthodox. 2. Orienting yourself to the doctrinal landscape of a particular issue might be valuable so that you know where your inclinations are and what the range of available options are.

I have had Logos for several years. They have a free version. I have the free Logos version and over the years I have accumulated 838 books. The free version is basically just the last revision before the one they sell now. It updates to the newer version when they introduce a new version. You are always one revision behind. It is plenty powerful and serves my purpose.

Pastor Tanner, I just got invited to use Logo Pro. I have pre-logos 6, I got it because I felt bad for pirating it in the day. I had E-Bible Premium and a downloaded copy of Libronix. I brought a base package or one above Pre-Logos 6 is what they are calling it. Logos ended up buying E-Bible. My question is we are no longer going to purchase packages if I understand correct? I read the Logos pro page and says in the fall you get everything Logos has to offer depending on which subscription you are willing to pay for and it all goes away minus any books you own if you decide not to pay any more is my understanding correct?
@PastorTanner17 күн бұрын
I do not think that is the direction they are going. Instead I think they are separating features out from the base packages so that all of the features will be available via subscription (with a nominal library) and then base packages will be books only. ^^^ This is merely my guess as to how it will work. We’ll have to wait and see.

hey P Tanner, i'm struggling to access that illustration / application search... perhaps I don't know how to do it.🤔
@PastorTanner17 күн бұрын
It should populate based upon ‘type.’ It didn’t used to work this way, but now when you designate a search it should pop up with the particular options. Are you on the most recent version of Logos?
@alfonsoveerapen825117 күн бұрын
Yes, I have logos 10 and subscribe to the new AI feature as well. I literally paused the video and select what you did… it does look the same. I will try again nonetheless. Love watching your videos by the way- struggle to follow your fast paced explanations 😂. Would you consider doing a step by step video of your sermon prep process from start to completion? Using the logos tools.
@PastorTanner17 күн бұрын
The other option would be to create a collection, then it should work for sure. If you go into ‘collections’ under the waffle menu, then you should be able to designate the rule ‘type:illustration’ and it should place all of those books into that collection. Then you simply have to select the collection when you click the drop down menu.

I'm back for round 2. Thank you for pointing out the Background tags. Picking out the "background" commentaries from my list of over 1800 commentaries was a pain. I had added a few, but now I have it narrowed down to 15. I have 6 background commentaries that cover that passage. I don't have the Zondervan version, but I got all the information that Z had. I also have another commentary that is not marked as "commentary-background" that pointed out that in this section of passage, there are "Jerusalemites" only found elsewhere in one verse in Mark. I can't find it now, but here is what I used before watching you make your choice: 7:25, 26 They are amazed that Christ spoke boldly (openly) and for a moment think that perhaps the rulers have been convinced that He is the Messiah. 7:27 The Jewish people seem to have expected the Messiah to appear suddenly from nowhere. They reasoned that since they knew where Jesus came from, He could not be the Messiah. They were ignorant of the Scriptures, for Micah had predicted the Messiah would come from Bethlehem (Mic. 5:2). Earl D. Radmacher, Ronald Barclay Allen, and H. Wayne House, Nelson’s New Illustrated Bible Commentary (Nashville: T. Nelson Publishers, 1999), 1331. I am not college educated, so watching you literally do every step is most helpful to me, at least for now. Not only am I learning the software, but I'm really learning the steps to creating a SS lesson as organized into LOGOS. If you prepare off-line, please at least take a moment to tell us what you did and how you did it when you live stream. I realize I'm the rare bug in the room and I realize I'm probably asking a whole lot. I'm usually the most hated in groups like this because I didn't $10,000s to spend on college to learn the basics I really need, and I seem to slow everyone down. So, I understand that you have to move forward at a pace that won't bore and run off your regular audience. I just hope to find enough bread crumbs to follow your trail. I'm going to continue in this work flow until I can't go further and hope to pick up new tips from your next video. Thank you very much. You have been a real blessing. So far, this is the best method that has given me a path I can understand and follow. I tend to over complicate things and so far this has been pretty concise. You did at one point write just a few words where I had written two paragraphs, though, LOL. Again, thank you, I'm looking forward to your next video. Shabbat Shalom (Isa 26:3)
