"the trees are more darker?" "a lot more thicker?" Pay attention to your grammar if you want viewers to believe you have any intelligence at all.

This is inaccurate and somewhat only explained at the very end. Acrylics are made with a polymer which dries permanently and cannot be removed. True gouache layers (as opposed to acrylic gouache) can be rewet if the additional layers you apply are too wet. This can be a disaster if the layers wet each other and those colors blend! Gouache can be wonderful IF you know about this potential problem and learn how to control the paint's wetness and thickness. Do check other "how to" videos to learn more specifics.

I can tell you're an acrylic fan 😅 acrylic fans bash oil but oil fans dont seem to bash acrylic. Weird.

The picture of the two frogs at the beginning is why I chose to watch this video all the way through. No real reason for saying so, just wanted to put that out there.

What I like here is the term 'dry pastels'. I here many artists talking about 'chalk pastels'. There is no such thing as a chalk pastel, and to me, it's lazy nonenclature and confusing to beginners. Pastels are pure pigment mixed with a binder to give them form. No chalk involved. PS, I never spray, I keep my finished work in glaasine until I can get them framed behind glass. But if spraying works fo you that's great.

If you were like me and were told almost nothing from your art teacher in a vocational highschool about oil paints, please do you own EXTENSIVE research. Man, that teacher made my life hell and in the process a lot of my clothes got destroyed with oil paints. Though I love that consistency of that thick ass paint and how nice is to just mix and even paint with it with a palette knife which is so cool. Really nice if you have the space and ventilation for it.

Bro acrylic paint is water based paint. But it does contains a plastic polymer emulsion as the binder.

That is adorable! My grandson is a huge Gengar fan. I’m thinking about trying to make him one. Thank you for the great instructions and not placing so much on perfection. I tend to overwork things to try for perfection and you did a great job and had fun. I can definitely learn from you. For the eyes and teeth, I think with, I might try using a fine tip micron pen or marker. I couldn’t imagine trying to paint the lines. Have a great and creative day. ❤

Thank you! A friend gave me a box of dry pastels and they've been sitting in that box for over a year. I'm more drawn to three dimensional works and 2 dimensional artwork is not my strong point. Sometimes I just want to play with color though to just relax...and now , thanks to your video, I feel I can handle those pastels easier. And I need a fixative spray. Thanks for that tip. Enjoyable video and cute cat!😊

If you’re wanting to get a certain color mixed with your acrylics you can place the paint on your board and add some water to blend the colors together to make another color. I like the idea of keeping the painting spritzed with a little water bottle so you can continue to blend on your canvas, that’s awesome!

Thanks for the run down. I've only recently messed around with them. Thus far, what looks all bright and crisp with watercolor, looks moribund in gouache, but again, just learning how to use it. I really like this medium, so hope to be proficient with it before long. 🎨

Few points worth mentioning: 1. long handle vs short handle - long one is (mostly) for 'on the easel' painting - you don't want to smudge the painting with your hand while painting - and it's useful in i.e. impressionism if you don't need a lot of control 2. there is a difference between cheap and expensive brushes in quality of materials - and as an old saying goes: the cunning man loses twice - you can spend much more money buying cheap brushes and throwing them away constantly...
