The most frustrating thing is it works only with Sky Dome backgrounds. I would like to be able to put a plane behind my object, then play with lights, but that is not possible.

this is amazing, how differnt is this to the new toon shader in RS currently?
@YouAndMeAcademy2 күн бұрын
"Thanks for the question! We created this before RS Toon was even announced so it relies mainly on a network of OSL shaders and mini setups we created with a custom UI interface only in Xpresso. You link a light into the shader (hence xrpesso nodes only) and it uses the direction for lighting. The three biggest differences are 1. the Halftone Pattern section we created. RS Toon has a node called "Tonemap Pattern" which does the same thing. However ours allows for any custom input, RS Toon (hopefully will eventually). Meaning you can bring in any image you want to create a pattern, your own sketchy lines, markers, squiggly shading, watercolor textures, paint, you name it - you can use it with YMA Toon. 2. YMA Toon comes with 30 presets to drag and drop ready to modify and use out of the box 3. Also we would say the RS Toon outline is stronger since it was coded from the ground up. So honestly mix and matching the two isn't such a bad idea!"

Awesome, I think I would like to use this still over ra too. Shader for now, but is it available for Houdini?

Cool, but a FAR CRY from what VRay does directly into its Render View IPR window, with the options to send those edits back to the scene's lights. Maxon needs to throw serious money to the development of RS, as it seems is stagnated almost to a halt since the acquisition.

Hi, thanks for your input! I’d be curious for a further explanation of this. If I’m understanding correctly the edits are still made in CG and not in post?

@@YouAndMeAcademy First of all, thank you for bringing us such great content. It is no exaggeration to say that this is definitely the most unparalleled redshift cartoon shader I have ever seen! It is strongly recommended that redshift official can see it! Secondly, I have some suggestions (or questions): 1. The parameters in the material panel seem to be unable to be displayed in the node editor. For example, I want to add noise to a custom halftone, but I find that I can't. 2. There seems to be no highlight option in the material. In fact, in many situations of cartoon rendering (for example, I want to show the metallic texture of armor), highlight is indispensable. 3. I hope tonemap’s ramp interpolation can support other modes. For now, it cannot be set to other modes except step. I tried switching to smooth mode, but the rendering did not seem to change. Sometimes I want smoothness ramp. (like klaus: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aIm9k4yEeM-gp9E), supporting interpolation in other modes will be very helpful. Thanks for adopting!

But I LOVE your way of teaching. - You dont skip over vital steps - Clear demonstration - Honest views (about how textures are really important when it comes to lighting) Keep this up, ill be waiting for more lighting and composition videos.
