I have just had microdiscectomy on my l5 disc and s1 nerve root. I have had severe pain/numbness/ tingling sensations down the whole of my left leg and left foot for the past 9 months. When i woke up from the anaesthetic, i was able to walk around the ward absolutely pain free. I have minor pain at the incision site. It is going to be a tough next few month's with regards to recovery etc , but i have read so many posts and threads on this operation. some negative and some positive. I was completely on the fence with it but i think it comes down to individual themselves, and for me it has been worth it so far , yes it is early days but before surgery i couldnt sit, walk, sleep, lay down. The pain was excruciating. The truth is, once you have a back injury, you always have a back injury. But you can learn to manage it. Tell your kids to treat there spine like a piece glass. But in my opinion, wether this operation is beneficial and worth doing, is COMPLETELY down to the individual.

Here's some music remedies that i know for quite some time that there's frequency music that may come handy with bone and nerves issues including pain. It's free to o listen and download no crap. I've downloaded some to deal with buldge disc and nerve pain issues. Let me know if you are interested i can send you guys link again i repeat it's totally free to listen online or download and listen whichever you prefer. - use wire earphones to listen i read Bluetooth headphones aren't good for brain and health due to radiation issues. - Drink plenty of water while and after listening . Just relax and listen or when doing simple household work and try NOT to listen while driving. Let me know if I can share it.

I had my Micro discectomy done 4 days ago. I had a bulge on L4-L5 and protrusion on L5-s1 . which caused back pain and numbness on left foot toes finger 2 to 5. My surgeon is a korean doctor in Dubai and he used laser to cut the L5-s1 protrusion and another procedure to basically cooked the L4-L5 disck bulge which then shrunk due to cooking and left space for my nerve . My lower back nerve pain is gone but a different pain is there which is local to the operated area and numbness spreaded to the whole left leg initially but now its more prominent on the toe and calf .. tigh is kinda on/off . The nurse told me its normal and will be gone slowly I am scheduled for a fallow up visit after two days. Bottom line is if your pain disturb your life then do this procedure its a life changer..

We were told NO sitting up straight like you’re doing for at least 2 weeks! It puts too much pressure on your discs. Either recline, or lay down or walk but no sitting straight up. Hope this helps you!!

Hey man thanks for sharing your journey. I had the same surgery about 7 weeks ago. I was feeling amazing till about 5.5 weeks but I was helping my dad on ladder and had to catch myself from about 2 feet up really nothing and then I was hammering a rebar stake in for probably 20 hits with a 4 lbs sledgehammer. Looking back that was really dumb of me. Been feeling sore on my right side off and on now for a week. My question is do you have days where you knew you did too much and how did you handle those. My Dr. has said nothing about PT but I’m wondering if I should be.

2 weeks out from one, and the last 3 days has been ridiculous. Cant even get pain meds from my doc after 1 week. I am miserable. I just woke up 740 am screaming in anger and pain. And, I have moved around a lot. I tried to work some friday night. But from day 1 I have been walking. Occasionally needing a cane for stability. This shut sucks. I just ate 2 tylenol and 3 ibuprofen at omce. I am regretting this so bad. First few days were great, first week even. Im freaking out thinking it didnt work, it went wrong or there is some infection or something. I cant even put weight on my left foot right now

I had microdiscectomy on june 22, 2024 and it's August 7 today. The leg pain was immediately gone and numbness in my right foot was gone after 2 weeks. Now that i am pain free i realize how much pain i endured. I am still taking it slow. Walk as much as i can. I cook, work around the house but avoid bending, twisting and lifting weights. I also avoid sitting because i was suggested so. Take a break after every 10 minutes of sitting. In all i am happy and it was the best decision of my life. But i am being very careful and am not rushing to return to my normal routine.

Had microdiscectomy done on the L4 L5 2 days ago along with an interspinous spacer fixation done on my L5 S1. Not gonna lie, when the morphine wore off I realized the kind of surgery this was. Pray who ever sees this, do it, it helps a lot. Don’t be afraid to heal after, it’ll come

Any heavy lift you do ,it's a pressure on you disc. If you feel no pain now, doesn't mean that your disc it's back to his full capacity. Stay away from jumps or anything that will put your disc under stress. I had this problem for 7 years, was a gym guy, and 2 weeks ago had my surgery as well. Just remember that no pain doesn't necessarily mean that you can stress that disc. It's vulnerable for at least 1 year.

Omg I’m there exactly!!! I have watched every video and here you are and all the comments! I’ve been in my worst day before surgery for days straight after surgery. I’m going to my first appointment 20 days in on oxy Tylenol combo. The surgery site has me through the roof and left sciatica is devastating me. So seems somewhat normal and we will make it through 🙏🏻

Wow! This popped up this morning and it’s everything I’m going through. I’m on day 6 post op and hurt worse than before. Already finished a steroid pack because there was so much pain after sx. Yesterday I felt great today I got up and can barely walk. Call my sx office at 5:30 left message called again at 10:30. No call back all I’m doing is sitting here crying.
