Automation is indeed possible, and if someone desired an automated solution, it could certainly be developed as a bespoke feature-though it would require engineering time, prototyping, and testing, all of which come with a cost. When designing an aircraft, especially in the 600kg Ultralight category, every single gram matters. Adding automation means additional weight, which reduces the payload capacity for fuel, luggage, or even passengers. It’s a delicate balancing act, and simplicity often wins the day in aviation design. An automated system also introduces additional complexity, both mechanically and electrically, which can lead to increased maintenance requirements. For an ultralight aircraft like the Shark, simplicity and reliability are key. The current system is brilliantly lightweight, extremely straightforward, and requires minimal adjustment during the year. Any pilot can quickly set it to the appropriate position for the season or ambient conditions without much training or effort. Perhaps most importantly, the design prioritises aerodynamic efficiency. Being able to adjust the cowl flap helps minimise drag by reducing the cross-sectional area and optimising airflow through the engine compartment. This isn’t just a minor tweak-it has a noticeable impact on performance. The Shark is all about delivering an extraordinary flying experience with sleek, efficient, and high-performance design choices. Yes, by using the Izi cover. Heating yes - incl. intensity regulation. There’s no AC provider for this aircraft category but we have about a dozen ventilation points with intensity regulation to maintain comfortable environment. On the ground the canopy has a special lock to keep it partially open while taxiing.

Yes, the aircraft has heating. However no AC manufactures create AC for aircraft in this category. The Shark has about dozen air vents to keep the pilot comfortable in flight

Another safety feature could be added to the aircraft is solar cells embedded into the wings so it could provide the instruments with power in the event of loss of the alternator. Although, I dont think this plane can act as a glider.

the shark has a BRS - ballistic recorvery system - which fires a parachute to effectively glide to a soft landing in an emergency

Hello! The Shark 600 is stunning, its incredibly similar to a military style tandem trainer which is incredible for the price. Can it be requested in a certain paint scheme, for example all black? How much customisation of the interior is possible? Also, could it happily pull 4g and do manuvers such as loops, rolls, spins etc? Thanks!

Various owners have purchased modifications and almost all have bespoke colour schemes (not painted for safety reasons, but decorated). One owner is confined to a wheelchair and has a custom configuration to allow him to fly without pedals, with his wheelchair in the back seat. Your questions about maneuvers depend on the pilot skills and the legal flight restrictions in the country of registration. So the answer is a very carefully worded yes.

In terms of speed the comparison should be done in the same conditions, altitude and horsepower. And valid certification in the country of planned registration. Otherwise it's apples and pears. In our view the key is the mission of the customer and how Shark or any other aircraft fits for that mission. In any case, we recommend all customers choosing among several types to make a comprehensive analysis and a proper demo flight with a Shark.

Very nice aircraft. Unfortunatly I lost the trust in Rotax engines since I so many incidents happened with them. We recently had an engine fail in our club in the startup phase while towing a glider. And I heard from incidents from other clubs around. The most annoying issue is, that the engine runs later on and nobody figured out why it fails. This is alarming. Beside this, the shark is my favorite light sport aircraft. But the world needs more reliable engines.

Regarding your comments about the Rotax engine: Rotax have produced almost 200,000 engines and many people see them as the gold standard for light sport aircraft engines. Please raise the problems you have written about in your comment with the Rotax service centre in your area, they may be able to guide you to a solution. Once again, great to hear that the Shark is your favourite light sport aircraft :-)

@@sharkairplane Indeed, the LBA and Rotax was already involved in that. But it is not the right place here disuss such things. I do not want to prevent potential customers from flying a Shark. This would be unlogical since almost every LSA comes with a Rotax today.Let's consider this more as my personal problem. Everbody knows that we have to rely on our engines. If there would be somewhere a opportunity to make a test flight with a Shark, I would like to do is in any case.

Yes, mostly regulatory. In many countries aerobatics are forbidden for our aircraft category (ultralight, microlight, light sport). Shark has not been certified for aerobatics.
