John Lyons is the BEST hands down for trailer loading. When you use his methods, not ONLY will they load in the middle of a hurricane with all their buddies screaming at them, they will load quietly and safely...and maybe most importantly will UNLOAD the same way. Most people think the most important thing is that they get in, and you can shut the door on them. John teaches ONE foot in, then ONE foot back out. They are rock solid with this method, and because they're so solid, you will never have an issue again...and that is going to save you a ton of time and grief in the future. Lyons is an absolute MASTER. Thx John!!

I attended three of John’s symposiums in the early 90’s. Two as a spectator, one as a participant at Cal Poly Pomona. I was in my early 20’s and didn’t realize the gift I had received at the time BUT it did change the way I viewed horsemanship! ❤

I learned from John Lyons in the early 80s. He gave me a solid foundation to be the good horseman I am today. Not bragging but the round pen completely changed and allowed me to do colts and have a good career working horses. Thanks John I ever so grateful for your ability to convey your expertise to me!!

I have been good friends of John, Josh, Michael, and Jody for a number of years. I have also hosted clinics of his. His methods flat work. Go to Rick Watke on you tube. Just from this short video I had no problems selling my horse. I used Johns methods to get my horse to do what he did in the video.

I have the full series , perfect start for the unbroke horse. For people saying negative things, shame on you. When you have to mention other horse trainers that whip the snot or have to use exaggerated body gestures to get their horse to lead or backup, pathetic. Het your head out of the clouds, you can train your horse with a thumb movement. John is beyond fabulous with horses in an extremely genuine credible guy. Why does everything have to be a debate! Thanks John n Josh. 🧡

Lyons is the best, period end of story! Still trying to figure out all this bullshit with a flag and a whip. No I'm lying, start a horse in the round pen Lyons way and you eliminate all the bullshit I'm seeing on KZbin and I started hundreds of horses this way.

@@patrickhennigan9689 Completely agree. Lyons always said he didn't 'invent' the horse training concepts, and that's true... but I will say John is the guy who did it best, fastest, and with the least amount of equipment. When these methods are properly applied, you don't get hurt/nor does the horse, and the horse is SOLID and willing for the rest of their lives. Thanks John!! Saw you in Alberta, best horse $$ I ever spent. Got it back in spades!

It makes sense, but what if I don't want to turn my horse around, I just want to slow down a horse that is walking faster than I need, and I don't want to be nagging at the bit. Could I train it to slow at a shifting back motion in the saddle?

yes, you do want your horse to turn towards you. Turning its butt towards you is your horse disrespecting you.
@biancawheeler270
@biancawheeler270 6 жыл бұрын
No there’s two different types of turns, an inside turn and an outside turn. Just because he puts his butt towards you doesn’t necessarily mean he’s “disrespecting” you. It’s good to know how to get your horse to do both

We got to meet John back in the late 80's during some of his rare trips to Florida... This was way before the internet, KZbin, and even DVD's... it was called VHS tapes. Used his training methods to work with many horses of ours including a few that the owners claimed to be un-trainable. People would be amazed how quickly horses would respond to these methods and it would become fun for the horse. The 3 rules, I don't get hurt, the horse does not get hurt, and end on a positive note! no matter how bad a training day is, there is always a positive note. We as humans, must be able to read their ques.

I think an added explanation about reactive and active riders is simply that the active rider ask for a behavior and the reactive rider is responding to a behavior. Love your training/explaining style. For me it bridges the gap between clicker training and natural horsemanship. Versa Buck Branamen I think your approach is smarter.

Thanks for posting!! I practiced these methods in my initial training of my horse (I have your ground school and riding manuals) I thought I had a very willing/giving horse, but when I tied her to a post, she pulled back and almost hurt herself. I bought the blocker ring and that helps, but I'm going to go back and practice these foundations. Thanks again!

The video quality makes it very difficult to see how he put pressure on the opposite side of the horse's head to make him turn left, and it's not explained except to "put pressure" on his nose. I don't understand how you can put pressure on something that's facing away from you to draw it toward you.
