John Lyons is the BEST hands down for trailer loading. When you use his methods, not ONLY will they load in the middle of a hurricane with all their buddies screaming at them, they will load quietly and safely...and maybe most importantly will UNLOAD the same way. Most people think the most important thing is that they get in, and you can shut the door on them. John teaches ONE foot in, then ONE foot back out. They are rock solid with this method, and because they're so solid, you will never have an issue again...and that is going to save you a ton of time and grief in the future. Lyons is an absolute MASTER. Thx John!!

I learned from John Lyons in the early 80s. He gave me a solid foundation to be the good horseman I am today. Not bragging but the round pen completely changed and allowed me to do colts and have a good career working horses. Thanks John I ever so grateful for your ability to convey your expertise to me!!

I know from personal experience how well John Lyons training methods work. They are by far the best I have ever come across.

We got to meet John back in the late 80's during some of his rare trips to Florida... This was way before the internet, KZbin, and even DVD's... it was called VHS tapes. Used his training methods to work with many horses of ours including a few that the owners claimed to be un-trainable. People would be amazed how quickly horses would respond to these methods and it would become fun for the horse. The 3 rules, I don't get hurt, the horse does not get hurt, and end on a positive note! no matter how bad a training day is, there is always a positive note. We as humans, must be able to read their ques.

In as fare as man/horse communication goes, John Lyons is the only instructor I agree 100% with. No BS.

John's methods are sound, they build trust and make for excellent ground manners. I've been to several symposiums and am a big fan. 👍

I have been good friends of John, Josh, Michael, and Jody for a number of years. I have also hosted clinics of his. His methods flat work. Go to Rick Watke on you tube. Just from this short video I had no problems selling my horse. I used Johns methods to get my horse to do what he did in the video.

I attended three of John’s symposiums in the early 90’s. Two as a spectator, one as a participant at Cal Poly Pomona. I was in my early 20’s and didn’t realize the gift I had received at the time BUT it did change the way I viewed horsemanship! ❤

I have the full series , perfect start for the unbroke horse. For people saying negative things, shame on you. When you have to mention other horse trainers that whip the snot or have to use exaggerated body gestures to get their horse to lead or backup, pathetic. Het your head out of the clouds, you can train your horse with a thumb movement. John is beyond fabulous with horses in an extremely genuine credible guy. Why does everything have to be a debate! Thanks John n Josh. 🧡

Lyons is the best, period end of story! Still trying to figure out all this bullshit with a flag and a whip. No I'm lying, start a horse in the round pen Lyons way and you eliminate all the bullshit I'm seeing on KZbin and I started hundreds of horses this way.
@HeyWatchMeGo Жыл бұрын
@@patrickhennigan9689 Completely agree. Lyons always said he didn't 'invent' the horse training concepts, and that's true... but I will say John is the guy who did it best, fastest, and with the least amount of equipment. When these methods are properly applied, you don't get hurt/nor does the horse, and the horse is SOLID and willing for the rest of their lives. Thanks John!! Saw you in Alberta, best horse $$ I ever spent. Got it back in spades!

Thanks John for sharing this clip, I can say that the talk about looking at different spots (areas) on the horse made a lot of sense to me, and will certainly assist me in furthering my horses training.

Alex, props for recognizing the horse's body moves which are similar to the ones he will be using when he's cutting cattle. But, this training isn't about cutting at all. It's the very BASIC stuff of teaching the horse a very alien concept: "We are going to become dance partners. I will always lead. I will teach you how to follow (read) me. So, when I apply pressure here, you shall respond by doing that." Upon this basic foundation, more complex "moves" are built. Hope this helped. :-)

For just once! I would like to see some one making a training video with a horse that is not so well trained. If our horses are already this trained before we start. Then whats the use. I want a video of horses that are doing it for the first time!!. Show us real horses with problems!!!

@Langly Miles, I took myself (a green rider) and a very green, eight-year-old horse with major issues, all the way to a calm and polite horse using his methods...and that was only by reading his book. It was not an overnight process, for sure.

I met John in the80s, and went to a number of his clinics. He would take horses at any level and improve them. Usin his methods, I have been able to take ra ge horses from cant touch to can ride in one (really long) day, 12 hours. Same thingnextday in 8 hours. Next day, 6 hours. Working these methods daily I could have another person riding that horse in less than a week. Really.

P.S- Rick Gore is great- I have learned sooo much from watching his videos- I knew nothing about horse care and found watching his videos to be most helpful while researching everything I could about horses before buying my first horse- IT is because of him that I ride bitless and have had some success with my filly- who was super sensitive and in dire need of proper sacking out- I learned about leadership and to ignore most of what other barn people would tell me to do- and do the research

I like to watch Monty Roberts videos as well and his advice was to let the horse get acquainted with the pen for "days" if need be to get him comfortable with it before working him. As long as it takes, kind of advice. kind of like you'd do with a horse N trailer. just put the trailer in the field and leave him alone with it to get acquainted. Hope this helps.

Alex Diaz - Yep. And it is also the same for driving cattle or horse herds, and it is what some breeds of sheep dogs, like the border colie, do by instinct.

@lauragiesbrecht76717 жыл бұрын
yes, you do want your horse to turn towards you. Turning its butt towards you is your horse disrespecting you.
@biancawheeler2707 жыл бұрын
No there’s two different types of turns, an inside turn and an outside turn. Just because he puts his butt towards you doesn’t necessarily mean he’s “disrespecting” you. It’s good to know how to get your horse to do both
