I saw him perform in 1975 1976 in Victoria BC. This album is one of my treasures from those good old days and still loving it. What a gift he will continue giving us forever more❤❤❤ Thankyou for all you brought with your many talents that you intertwined and kept surprising us with throughout the many years❤❤❤❤😂😅😊😂😅😊

I love the way Mike Rutherford plays the melody while picking through the intro riff, then Phil Collins comes in with a high hat beat, with Tony Banks completing the spell on the keys. PERFECTION!

As has been said before this is a beautifully constructed piece of music. We'll never hear the likes of it again unfortunately. Thank the Lord I was born in '63 😊

Genesis High Mass! That's as good as it gets. Quite rightly the last song on their “When in Rome”. Their farewell. All the best Phil! That's how I'll remember you.

The best music in the world? Genesis! (Collins) The Alan Parsons project! Some of The Police. Some songs by ABBA. Various strokes of genius from other bands, that's it.

What a primal force of a song, what a stroke of genius! Even better live.

As good, as fantastic as my 2nd favotite group The Beatles were, they were rarely better than their musical successors to the crown, Genesis, who went places the Beatles never touched.

I remember reading that Mike wrote this autobiographical song inspired by the fact that his father destroyed a snowman that Mike had made, his main reason was that he aspired for his son to be like him, a military man and he never supported his sensitivity, much less his talent and bond. with music...

The Album Cover has the figures from the 70's kid's toy my youngest sisters played with. the toy wasa red and blue soccer ball shaped but a littler smaller outer case, that split into halves to dump out the different yellow figures out so each figure could be put back into the toy thru the openings in the shell shaped like each yellow figure....and they put the figures on the Album Cover.....BRILLIANT!

I love how Banks introduces augmented chords in the chorus to show us that even though this is a very romantic and erotic moment for Rael, something is still wrong and that these Lamia may not be the creatures that Rael thinks they are
