My 1995 ford XLf150 doesn’t have a tachometer which sucks, but you really don’t need it.
@harley_benoitАй бұрын
@@mckayeast1077 Yeah I was pretty lucky to find an XL that did have a tach. I’ve driven trucks without them and you can definitely shift by ear but I still like to have one personally. Aftermarket ones aren’t that expensive and are pretty easy to install though
@henoticed76Ай бұрын
I have a question so when your slowing down whatever gear you come to a stop on you can shift all the way back to 1st
@harley_benoitАй бұрын
Yes, you totally can, and actually you should. Doing so reduces wear on your transmission and improves your MPG. If you just need to come to a stop for a stop sign or whatever, there is no reason to downshift through all the gears. Just push the clutch in, use the brake to come to a stop, then once you need to start again put it back in first. Hope that helps!

I love you’re truck and I’m not hating on you in any way but when you are sitting at a red light I personally pay attention to the other lights at the intersection because typically when the cross traffic light turns yellow it means yours is going to become green soon so I tend to put my car into first gear and get ready for it so I’m not stuck trying to find first while the light is green

I have the 1996 F150 XL 4.9 with the 5 speed manual. I bought it for $2,000. out if a back yard in Georgia. I've invested an additional $10,000. into replacing everything. I drive the truck for 20 - 30 minutes and when I try to start it....the voltage regulator just clicks, yes it's new too. After an hour the truck starts right up. I've replaced the battery, the starter, the coil, the ICM, I'm getting frustrated and about to sell this thing. It's a dam near mint truck..long bed, duel tanks, it's that nice dark green with grey interior and the black rubber floor. all that. Any ideas ??

@@BruceHarris-r7r I had a similar issue with mine that stumped me as well. Sometimes it would just randomly die while driving, sometimes it would crank really long and slow when starting, sometimes it would start fine, sometimes it wouldn’t start at all. One night it died randomly while I was driving it and I couldn’t get it to start back up. Ended up leaving it over night and when I came back the next morning it started up just fine. I ended up just taking it to the ford dealer to have them figure it out, which they did. It was some random electrical shit in the distributor cap. Maybe check that out. Hope that helps

Awesome video, Thanks for ALL the details. I have the 5.0 in a 1995 with 177,000 miles and original radiator. Looks like you saved me from doing many mistakes in this procedure. BTW, How many gallons of premix anti freeze did it take at the end?, and where did you get the radiator fill funnel that you used, looks like a must have item. Next project will be the same - but for a 1989 F-350 with a 460 V-8 with only 80,000 miles on it, this farm truck has an easy dumper hyd insert which is used for gravel and dirt fill when needed, about five years ago I put a 650 cfm 4 barrel carberator and intake manifold from summit motors plus a few other upgrades, that fuel injection was nothing but trouble. purchased both trucks when they were new, Both run real strong and worth keeping till the wheels fall off is my motto.

Since I know this engines will last with the kind of millage I have I think it’s probably a good call to add true dual exhaust and maybe an upgraded intake manifold as well.
@harley_benoit7 ай бұрын
@@naarvmaan Nice. I had a ‘95 (the one in the video) and I still have a ‘75, both with the 4.9/300. My ‘95 started burning oil around 180k miles but still always ran good as long as I kept it topped off. My ‘75 has been rebuilt once but it still runs like a charm. No oil consumption or anything. They are great motors because of their simplicity (which also makes them horribly inefficient 😂). I think duals are definitely the move on the EFI ones because they are set up so well for it with the split manifold. Idk if intake would gain you anything unless you put a Holly Sniper on it or something like that but probably won’t hurt. Good luck!
