Easier said than actually getting it. And does it take in 'under pressure , moving backwards' situations? Is this ability essential to win at higher levels?

Skill level downgrade- in every group there is usually someone who is not afraid (personality style) to approach the player that should otherwise not be there at that level if there is such a big disparity. Find that person and ask them to politely make that suggestion. But Ive seen where the under skilled player ignores the call out, that tends to be the socially unaware person to begin with.

At the club where I play if a much lower level player consistently plays with higher level players then people just let the staff know and they talk to the player themselves. I think that's a good way to do it without causing tension between fellow players.

oh wow! Actually, I wish this was an option more often. I like that it comes from a more "neutral party"... protects the relationships among players that way!

Our club just put an enforcement for the 4.5+ open play group that you must have a DUPR rating that high to jou so the people expecting high level competition are among peers. I think it makes sense at the high level and anyone lower just needs to try their best regardless of their partner.

I usually will only call a foot fault in Rec play if it's egregious, nit picking when someone's toe might have barely touched the kitchen line isn't worth it. As for unsolicited advice and coaching I think it happens way too often in pickleball, too often players that are around 3.0 to 3.5 will critique players that are barely worse than them. The only time I give advice is when it's obviously a brand new player who is still learning the rules and this is one of their first times playing and they are still wondering how the game works.

I feel the same way- if a foot fault is blatantly obvious then I think it should be called but I’m really not one to nit pick and create a situation out of something small… not really worth a rec play point to me you know? The coaching… it’s still hard to stomach after 4 years of playing 😂 how do you handle it when you get “coached” by someone on the court? Just curious because it really happens a ton!

demonstration of a backspun short shot is too simple. It is the court length backspun shot that is extremely difficult, and almost impossible. Whereas in table tennis, backspin is everywhere, in pickleball you can only use backspin in shorter shots. I like the nike swoosh analogy, but my swoosh always ends with a rockhard wrist lock at the end.

Loading and unloading from the ground up through the kinetic chain with rotation is key. The hand lays back and comes forward like a whip. Do the same for serves. Lots of power, lots of spin, lots of defensive shots from opponents. 😊

I’m working on this shot. The main problem I have is “over hitting.” The ball goes much deeper than I anticipated. Will have to keep working on it, but open to any tips you learned.

Great video. New to PB and don’t play racquet sports. Using drill 2 for drop serve. Having problems serving from right side, ball always out of bounds. Is footing same, left foot at angle and right foot parallel? Thanks.
