To: John Spinale and majority shareholders, c suite, etc: Jazz Venture Partners has a very profound name. The problem is if you use the term "Jazz," an African-American creation, but don't have a significant number of black people in top management positions, aren't you culturally appropriating? Please consider adjusting your HR practices to reflect more diversity, particularly by hiring more Africans, African-Americans, and Afro-Latinos whose darker skin tone and other phenotypical traits would show greater depth in your investment venture capital firm.

Take This, Inc. has discriminated against an autistic individual with respiratory issues by refusing to provide reasonable disability accommodations during PAX West 2024, despite federal Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines. For the past two years, this individual successfully volunteered using a face shield instead of an N95 mask. This year, without any valid reason, Take This reversed their stance, ignoring the individual’s requests and disregarding their disabilities. This is a clear violation of the ADA, which mandates that organizations provide reasonable accommodations. This denial not only affects this volunteer but sets a harmful precedent for the entire Disabled community at PAX West. The Disabled volunteers even offered to take COVID tests before their shifts to ensure safety. It's crucial to hold Take This accountable for their actions and ensure they uphold the rights and dignity of Disabled individuals. Contact Take This, Inc. and demand they follow ADA guidelines: www.takethis.org/contact. Together, we can make a difference and ensure justice for all. I love how he uses the word "Feminist" and "Critique" as permanently and inextricably linked, tacitly admitting that the only practical use of Feminism is to endlessly and relentlessly complain, even if the subject at hand is Mario Kart.

Stay away from wokefying our games. You and SBI and the likes are trying to ruin our games. And no! the digital and the non digital world are NOT the same! Just as fairytales are not the real world. And to blame Skyrim of all games is preposterous

I think my review of this article is relevant to your discussion. It is called “How to Safely Transfer Knowledge and Skills Derived From Gaming Into the Real World?”. This is my review of the article and references Infinite bandwidth and the seven media keys. Summary: There is a relationship between skills developed in gaming and real-world skills. Simulators are effective tools for professionals to use to enhance their overall skill level. There is risk involved with how real these simulators are. Individuals can and do mix up the virtual world with the real world. This can be detrimental because in the real world, there are no respawn points or restart buttons, causing inappropriate and dangerous behavior. Media Key 1: Living a balanced life The first Media Key encompasses temperance. To live a balanced life, we need to “moderate(s) the attraction of pleasures and provide(s) balance” (Gan, pg 31) with all things. Playing a video game nonstop engulfs one’s reality into thinking that the game is reality. This is true for any media, if a person is on media more than normal it will start becoming their reality. The amount of time for these games needs to be balanced in a way that helps the necessary skills while controlling the ‘mixing’ of realities. The article states that “we must be aware and awake, and act appropriately when negative transfer skill derived from games is about the happen.” This does not entirely approach the solution correctly. It seems to say that living unbalanced is permissible but if negative effects begin, action is needed. Media Key 2: Attitude Awareness The second media key gives insight into the goals and purposes of game developers, movies, and other media. However, their goals and purposes have agendas that the audience needs to be aware of in order for a worthy assessment. “But the problem with The Sims (and other games like it) is what the creators consider a well-built life.” Each well-produced video game requires values. These values can be corrupted and therefore will produce a seemingly well-built game but distorts the player's sense of value. The article states that, “It is not, that people do not know the difference between reality and the games. But, they may lack insight in -or recognition about- what applies, and what does not (and to what extent) in real life.” The values in a video correspond to the values the gamer brings to the world. The article correctly identifies that individuals may not fully know where the line ends between virtual reality and reality. Media Key 3: Dignity of the Human Person The third media key helps the media identify when the human person is properly dignified. “Media should help us understand our dignity and the dignity of others.” Videogames and all other kinds of media should uphold the values and basic beliefs of Christianity to properly dignify the whole human person. This article does not mention how video games should uphold the values of the human person. Instead, it mentions that there could be negative effects when skills learned in video games are put into action in reality. This indirectly says that video games should uphold the dignity of the person but does not mention such a thing. Media Key 4: Truth Filled Infinite Bandwidth speaks about how each media should have truth built into it, or not leave truth behind when entering its reality. “When we use media…we mustn’t leave the truth behind.” We need to remember truth when dealing with media of any kind, especially video games as its truth caries on to our real lives. The article indirectly references this because it tells us that skills can be transferred from video games to reality. It also says that “In the real world, skills derived from gaming may be very useful, but usually quite different rules and ethics apply.” This article realizes that there are some video games in which rules and ethics may vary from reality. However, it does not mention that it might not be entirely virtuous or good to continue playing those games despite the change of values. And therefore, not correctly identify that good media should be truth-filled. Media Key 5: Inspires us to God Infinite Bandwidth tells us that media should point us in the direction of our ultimate end. “Is it a sign, pointing the way to God? If the answer is yes, then the media fulfills the fifth media key: it inspires us to the good.” Media is beneficial when it helps us to our end goal, union with the Trinitarian God. Similar to media key 3, the article does not directly mention anything about how video games should help an individual reach his final end. When a person develops virtuous and good skills, it helps him accomplish his end goal. This article speaks of how there are good skills that can be learned, “…playing video games can contribute to science, education, and society in many ways, by improving individual and organization skills and knowledge.” When we learn useful skills it not only affects others, but it helps the individual with his end purpose. The article has this truth, but does not mention that good media should inspire to God. Media Key 6: Well-made and skillfully developed The sixth media key has to do with the quality of the media in question. “The quality of our content can never be an excuse for a lack of quality in our delivery of that content.” Media that has good content should have a good way in which it displays that media. Media needs to display its message for current times, and since the standards change, so should the means by which good media is displayed. This article indirectly shines light on the quality of a video game. “…even professionals such as F1 drivers, pilots and doctors use games for improving their skills.” Video games need to be well built in order to display a certain amount of reality in which real-life skills have the means to develop. However, the article could talk more about how the games in which skill is required need to be well-built. Media Key 7: Motivated by and Relevant to Experience Using the seventh media key, we can see that media needs to be relevant to our own lives in order for us to fully grasp the ideas being portrayed. “It should take on familiar flesh and speak a language we know so that we can truly hear and understand the message it presents to us.” The book also speaks of how we can use media to enrich our lives, “Media offers us the opportunity to harness the power and use it to educate, enlighten, and transform.” This article properly assesses video games so as to relate it to our own experience and to use video games in a way that contributes to the greater society. “…playing video games can contribute to science, education and society in many ways, by improving individual and organization skills and knowledge.” A good video game played in moderation, not only helps ourselves but helps the general public for the better, especially the video games that give us proper real-world skills.

32:10 "Vladmir Putin said 'He who controls AI controls the world,' but I say no, I say, 'He who controls AR controls the world,' because they can control the narrative, what we see in the world and our perception of reality... data will be captured all the time, there will be no opting out." Galit dropping BOMBS in this section edit: yoooooo when Ffiske gave us some hope with "there's a company in the UK working on a permissions-based layer" and Em follows with, "yeah but is it by a for-profit company?" Ffiske was like, "yeah it is... but he's a cool guy though!" 😂

Good talk. I was definitely hooked with the Starcraft anecdote, and appreciated that the speaker didn't disregard gaming outright (like a lot of people do). While there are certainly games where you just turn your brain off, there are a lot that are very complex and can be linked to other fields like writing, as she shares, or mental math and problem-solving. I also appreciated the line about our education system as a pipeline. Finally, the graph showing investment per student per year based on SES was staggering. Assuming that a teacher makes $72k annually, that top-level investment would support one educator per 8 students. With that size of class, things like differentiated instruction and UDL become incredibly easy. However, with just 5 sections of 25 students (small classes), that same salary amounts to under $600 per student. However, teachers are expected to provide the same level of education and support. Mind boggling.
