Just a question though, with all that on the belt, where do soldiers during alice belt days keep their pistols?

The wet weather parka is so loud, though. How could you actually wear that in combat and not get shot? I've never been in the military. I do know that hunters here would never wear such a thing. Animals would hear that from a very long distance. So I'm thinking in many situations the loud fabric would be a liability for a soldier.

Interesting how the more things change, the more they stay the same. Such as securing the foilage band with 550 cord. I still taught that with my soldiers as a squad leader in 2018-2021. Its the cheapest and most effective method for doing so.

My most cozy setup was the jacket AND pants liner with a wooly pully over my skivvy shirt and then my utilities over that. The gloves and liners were surprisingly comfortable. I never wore the long underwear unless it was well below freezing.

And as a smart paratrooper, one always had two of everything, one for using and one for turning back in to CIF upon PCS and ETS. Also the CIF issue kit was for the inevitable inspection that was always right around the corner.

I see a lot of pics of the 82nd AB (505th and 325th) in Desert Storm and their bandage pouches are on the right side, not the left side like you show. Can you explain this? Working on a 325th AIR impression for Desert Storm.

It’s dumb to wear it on the right side. Interferes with shouldering your rifle. We had to wear them on the left when I was in 3ID, unless you were left handed.

This guy is an 82nd AB reenactor (and veteran) and it's a reference to a sign that was put up at Fort Bragg during the Cold War. He's not saying to hate anyone, he's just going along with the 1980s/cold war era theme.

In West Germany in the early-mid 80's, a lot of GI's had either a wool blanket or poncho liner sewn into the rain jacket. They were referred to a Hawk or Graf Jackets. You could either wear them over your BDU's or Field Jacket minus the jacket liner.

@The guerillas' Hide I'm a white male and both witnessed and discriminated against the reason why the real reason why I left was I was up for E4 I was third on the list to be promoted they took my name off the list put a black guy on the list that just got his E3 and promoted him before never even decided to promote me I told him they could stick their races bullshit Army and I got out when I got out and I got out as an E1 I told him to stick the rank where the sun don't shine I could have cared less but I did make sure one thing I got my honorable and I got screwed on getting the Good conduct metal so they screwed me on the Good conduct middle and screwed me in the rink if I had made E4 I would have reenlisted because I really wanted to stay in for my 20 and have a decent retirement but no they had the stick me in a racist ass company should have gone to Germany I know if I'd gone to Germany I would have made E5 and gone from there but it is what it is and there was a surgeon behind all that too Sergeant no one really liked but a lot of people kissed his ass God bless
