300 hour private pilot with tail wheel endorsement. Completed written and 35 hours into my instrument training. Just bought a cirrus with my brother. Looking forward to more cross country flights.

That is where I got my pilot license. My instructors were Tom Miller and Ernie Porter. I got them in the late 90s. I wish I knew what they were doing now.

Its norm 2 white 2 red for perfect glide slope right? Or is it 1 red 1 white at that airport?
@Ultorvindex4 күн бұрын
That tail is dangerous. I wouldn't buy that thing, not even crazy! That tail has been proven to not withstand very well the aerodynamic forces. With IMC or worse is a catastrophic structural failure waiting to happen.

I lost full Alternator which resulted in loss of AC, radio 1, flaps and trim capability (I landed no flaps immediately since they were lost). Be mindful of the differences in case it happens again. CAPS placard should be removed for flight. Good job overall.
@golfcoastpilot5 күн бұрын
You lost both 1 and 2?
@dankerrigan26075 күн бұрын
@ Just 1, but 2 probably would have failed had I not landed 10-15 min later.

When ALT1 failed, I would have diverted to the nearest airport for repair rather than fly 2.5hrs with an unknown electrical fault.
@jvke.p3 күн бұрын
I mean it’s what the POH says… and it’s entirely daytime VMC
@geekmug3 күн бұрын
@@jvke.p The POH is a legal minimum. ALT1 is a gear-driven alternator. If you don't know how or why it failed, then your next question should be "what's going to fail next?" Stop the holes of the swiss cheese from lining up. There are at least two documented mechanical failures of ALT1 that led to a crack in the engine case, and one of them (N19BV) led to a CAPS pull after the engine failed to due to oil loss and the pilot was seriously injured. If I am 1hr from home and 2.5hr from a destination that I have never flown to before, then I am at a minimum returning home.
@golfcoastpilot3 күн бұрын
Definitely a fair point, I respect your ADM. I will continue to do what Cirrus advices as they are the experts!
@golfcoastpilot3 күн бұрын
Moreover, the 19BV failure was the result of a maintenance error! Not saying it couldn’t happen to again, but definitely a stretch!

My current 22 is identical to yours but with the factory O2. Still has a 1241 lb useful, which is so nice. Based in SC. Previous 22 did not have factory O2 but used a mountain high system which worked well. Keep the vids coming, great job.
@golfcoastpilot8 күн бұрын
Did you have additional maintenance requirements with OEM installed 02 system?
@thomasjenkins69508 күн бұрын
@ There is a check of the regulator and flow equipment I believe every two years and you are required to replace the bottle I think every 7 or 8 years. Of course there is a cost involved in refilling which is fairly nominal. Precise flight is the supplier to Cirrus for the OEM systems. I am satisfied with it so far. They do sell portable systems as well I believe.

Also since the batteries of the GoPros don't last more than 80 to 90 minutes. How did you resync the videos when you turned the cameras back on? Thank you

Oxygen systems? If you could get the OEM from Cirrus retrofitted in, that'd be the best solution... but otherwise, I'm a huge fan of the Aerox and Mountain High systems.

If you are not left handed......did you find using your left hand for the side stick somewhat awkward to begin with???....good channel good flying....awesome plane...thanks
@mkosmo11 күн бұрын
You fly nearly every aircraft from the left seat with the left hand. There are very few where you don't (like a Zenith, or some RVs). Even the center stick on a Diamond is controlled with the left hand. It's no more difficult than driving a stick shift with your left hand on the wheel.
