Very nice flight and video. I must have missed you picking up your Clearance... or was that done off camera? At non-towered airports I normally complete my runup, then phone for my clearance, enter route into the panel, and takeoff (before the void time). I expect you did the same. Thanks for posting. Wayne (DA40 KSBA)

Did not show picking up clearance. Glad you enjoyed.

IF it's the same as the 20 bring it to full idle after run up vs 1000 to see if it continues to run then back to 1000
@golfcoastpilot11 ай бұрын
I cover idle checks in taxi and double check it with before take off checklist. Keeps me ahead of the airplane :)

Aren’t you to remove that black caps cover before takeoff?
@golfcoastpilot7 ай бұрын
Cirrus requires the red CAPS pin be removed before takeoff. Some also chose to remove the black cover as well.

Good video and great airplane. One question - why engage the AP so low? If anything goes wrong with that AP you don't give yourself much of a chance to recover. And something will go wrong someday. I hand fly departures until at least 1000 AGL and usually to the first altitude clearance. Just for peace of mind
@LRobichauxIV Жыл бұрын
In my recent IFR training (in a Cirrus), I was trained that best practice on all instrument departures (particularly in low vis / ceilings) is to activate TOGO prior to taxiing onto the runway, have heading / altitude bug set to initial assignments, and activate AP between 400 - 600 feet AGL. I believe this is also called for in the Cirrus Flight Operations Manual (iFOM). I suppose this is a risk trade-off between lowering the risk of spatial disorientation if entering IMC quickly after liftoff, and the extra second or two it would take to take control of the yoke and disconnect the AP. For me personally, I never really take my hand off the yoke on an IFR departure even after engaging the AP. With simply tightening my grip around the side yoke, I'm able to make manual inputs and simultaneously disconnect the AP.

There are many different ways to go about this. Simply put, I use autopilot to reduce pilot workload especially when taking off into IMC conditions. Considering I had an immediate turn on course it made sense for a low vis departure. Limitation is 400agl per manufacture. Glad you enjoyed, thanks for watching!

@@LRobichauxIV Right on! Statistically more likely to get spatially disoriented than have a catastrophic engine failure. But always be prepared for either situation.
