Anyone who is getting into Pokemon/TCGs should know this is 100% gambling. If they don't realize that, that's on them. I'm talking about adults only. Because kids can't have credit cards. I really don't feel bad for anyone who believes it's not gambling.
@PokemonOverflow7 күн бұрын
Kids and teens can be issued credit cards from a bank or a company such as PayPal, given that the parents request them. It’s also a common occurrence that kids use their parents credit cards for games, school services and shopping.

Also other sly gimmicky bullshit or half truth tactics they use to move product is annoying as well. But other than the no age restrictions bit, everything you’re attempting to convey is nothing more than you coddling and validating low IQ adults with impulse control issues. Bullshit like this where you point blame all in one direction without holding up a mirror to the MFs watching your content nust fuels their delusions and mental gymnastics so they can continue to avoid accountability for their decisions in life and not have to do the hard shit that comes with being a human. There are snakes out there. There are manipulators and bad actors that play off your weaknesses and hack your biological mental wiring. Read a damn book on psychology, look yourself in the mirror, and stop lying to yourself about your own bullshit. After you do that, no one can touch you. But if you’re wondering this planet bullshitting yourself about how you’re “a nice person” or how you did “A, B, or C something so why doesn’t X, Y, or Z reward happen to me?”, you better buckle up, because yoir first line of defense against the outside world is your ability to mentally Process and digest the information you receive from it. So if you spend your time alone lying to yourself and being a willful idiot about you to you, then you’re gonna get screwed the long way anytime you come across a predator in the wild. You make a good argument about gambling. But how do you condemn people for letting children buy booster packs on livestreams when people can go to the store and buy booster packs?
@Suiax12 күн бұрын
One less middleman to disappointment, also less potential to get scammed. There are a lot of videos of creators on Whatnot swapping cards, when someone's break has a super expensive card. But, it doesn't exempt actual packs. They are legit gambling, and a waste of money. They should be opened for fun, not in hopes of getting a huge return. Fun story, I was building a Charizard ex deck, and only needed a Pidgey to complete it, but it hadn't arrived in the mail yet. I really wanted to run it at league that day, so before I went, I ended up buying 2 loose packs, and 2 booster bundles of Obsidian Flames in hopes of pulling 1 Pidgey to complete the deck. Easy, right? Nope! I pulled 3 Pidgeotto, but not a single Pidgey. Just to top it all off, I also pulled a Hyper Rare Charizard. But no Pidgey. Yeah, don't buy packs in hopes of pulling something. Even if it's just a common card.

I am just seeing this video almost a year later, but I have never cared for almost any Pokémon Card channels. 90%+ of them aren't here for the love of the hobby or the community, they are here to make money and be scum. I won't name any specific channels I do not care about, but I can probably count the number of channels on one hand that even seem like they have a tiny chance of being actually good people making content for the right reasons.

All there doing is making hard to procure products available to the public and they disclaimer the risk.. you sir are a douchebag.
@wavvedash17 күн бұрын
This isn't about clout or taking anyone down. Criticism is valid regardless of the size of the channel. If someone is promoting potentially harmful behavior-like encouraging kids to chase expensive Pokémon cards as if they're lottery tickets it's worth calling out. Fame doesn't make anyone immune to accountability.
@PokeMonster199017 күн бұрын
@wavvedash Then they would have to stop selling anything with a chase.. because it's all a gamble.. you can't open up a pack of cards without being a part of that gamble.. yes a pack is a small gamble and a mystery bag is a bigger gamble but let's not pretend every single adult out there opening up cards isn't hoping for the chase card.. The return of value when most cases you spend 5$ for 40 cents in cardboard.. This video looks at what I can tell is a pretty decent guy giving the average person the chance to curate a rare pack or product. He doesn't have to do it he already has more than expendable money and again I've seen him give away 100s to 100s of 1000s worth of products and cards in the last 5 years.. what a monster.
@wavvedash17 күн бұрын
@@PokeMonster1990 I get that opening packs is a gamble because at the end of the day its all about fun and the mystery that lies in those packs, but the issue is about transparency and fairness in how these products are sold. I personally don't watch pokerev, but if what you're saying is true about him giving back to the community, it’s important to ensure business practices are clear and responsible, especially when dealing with potential risks for consumers.
@PokeMonster199017 күн бұрын
@wavvedash Even this video shows a clip of Pokerev from a very old video discussing how much of a gamble mystery packs are .. He also does tons of videos on other mystery products where most times people watch him lose big.. This is not a conspiracy or a well kept secret.. CTR and Pokevault also proclaim the gamble of any mystery product.. seems pretty transparent to me.. and as far as kids go It's up to the parents to watch them and guide them.. They have been able to secret spend unaware parents money on fortnite and roblox which has $1000 items.. but then again easier to attack a target with a face than a company. This video is with little research clearly and doesn't even provide a perspective from Pokerev who probably doesn't know his name is being drug through the dirt with no proof.. last I checked that's slander and if it hurts his business that's illegal
@wavvedash17 күн бұрын
@@PokeMonster1990 I get what you're saying, but I think the main issue is how this stuff affects younger viewers or people who are just getting into the hobby who don't know a thing about it. Pokerev is open about the risks with mystery packs based off that small clip, but it’s still easy for kids to get caught up in it. Yeah, parents need to be aware, but it’s still worth thinking about the bigger picture. I agree calling it a "conspiracy" is a bit over the top, but the risks are worth talking about.

I agree with both sides of the arguement. It hurts the community of card collectors. Helps the people extorting others. And has terrible consequences for children if they get involved in the streams, let alone actually participating in the breaks/rip and ships. The industry should be looked at closely by government to reduce the occasions of children being able to purchase. Adults however, they should be able to do whatever they want with their money. As long as the business is properly regulated and legitimate. Taxes and other things that arent being paid i mean. Other than that, we live in a capitalist society where this type of stuff happens daily by millions of people. Sooo to each their own essentially. I do agree it is kinda scummy. But if no one was buying it, it wouldnt be here. So if you dont like that type of content you CANNOT support those channels. Otherwise said person is being a hypocrite. Im sure 95+% of people who watch those videos use it as entertainment. The other less than 5% that buy are well within their rights to pay for something. Just an opinion. Take it as you will. If their was more legitimate transparency behind these types of sales. The mystery packs anyhow, people that dislike the service might not judge it so harshly. Great vid though exposing what these types of products represent in the collector industry.

So you blast big KZbinrs for supposed gambling for box breaks and RIP&Ship but it's no different then someone going to the local stores and buying something. This is the most ridiculous thing I've heard. Your just a sad individual who gains views and subs on trying to downfall others for your personal gain. Talk about a POS. Opening pokémon cards itself no matter where you get it is a gamble. Your never guaranteed anything. If cards were that easy to pull they wouldn't be worth what they are. This video was a waste of my time I'll never get back.
@wavvedash17 күн бұрын
It is different. When you buy packs from a store you’re not paying an inflated price for the chance to participate in a “rip and ship” or “box break” where only a few people might win something valuable. Just like gambling, it’s almost 99.9% not guaranteed. These KZbinrs are essentially running pay to play systems where viewers gamble their money hoping to get a big pull, which is far riskier and resembles a lottery or casino more than casual collecting. Calling out unethical practices isn’t about taking anyone down. It’s about holding people accountable when their content blurs the line between entertainment and exploitation. Criticism, in this case, is necessary to protect the community, especially younger or less informed viewers who might not understand the risks. If you dont agree with the points in the video that’s fine but don’t totally dismiss, personally attack with insults and consider the bigger conversation.
