I missed this because I have been gone but jumping onto the Boston games, when Beniers got absolutely rocked only to receive the puck off screen all alone and snipe it. I will never forget thinking he was dead one moment to him scoring seconds later.

Being in the UK I ask myself many times when I'm sleep deprived from staying up to watch a Kraken game at 4am..why couldn't I have chosen an East Coast team to support...but can't control that I got dragged into the deep by the Kraken...I love it though wouldn't have it any other way...hope to make it out one day like Elizabeth and watch a game at the Climate pledge in person

Wonderful episode. I have to echo the Post Game Live chats; win or lose, it is a VERY special community you've both grown and nurtured here. Thank you for the great content and most importantly, thank you being there at every game to help us wind down synthesize and decode the game we just saw. This is a wonderful group of humans. It's great to be a part of ECH. Here's to a great season upcoming!

Pleasure having my question warrant an entire section👍. I do think that a McLeod-type return doesn’t make sense for the Kraken, and not only did the Sabres need help in their bottom-6, but Benson can basically do what Savoie can but better and sooner. I wouldn’t mind trading Firkus for a star OR a similar tiered prospect that’s a defenseman.

Just got a chance to watch this and the last one. Good stuff and I have a few questions. 1. It sounds like from your comments, when Borgen moves on after this season, do you see that Ottavainen is the logical 3rd pairing replacement? I assume that Cale Fleury gets claimed on waivers this year if he is sent back to CV. 2. You seem to be big on Caden Price but the silence seems to imply you are not so high on Lukas Dragicevic. Do you not see him as also a viable top 4 D at some point? 3. This video has around 500 views. Your prior two videos both had less than 1,000. How in the world do the two of you support yourselves working this full-time on that revenue stream? Even with the 261 patreons you have chipping in $5 or $10 a month, that is just not enough, not to mention the B&O and other taxes. Are you eating every meal at Dick's to survive?

Question on the trading Firkus front, considering the return Buffalo got for Savoie, who’s a very similar comp to Firkus in terms of style and production, would it be worth it? Because the return for Savoie is likely going to be what Firkus would fetch.

Pretty sure there’s no room for Catton on The Kraken next season, but it sure will be fun to see him get something like 150 pts in Junior.

Sale's contract looks lower than Rehkopf/Molgaard/Dragicevic because he signed last year and got his first year of signing bonus then. The contract slides but the signing bonus doesn't, and the bonuses paid before the contract actually starts don't count against the cap once it does begin. This is also why Wright's cap hit was listed at $950k in 22-23, $918k in 23-24, and $886k now. The second-rounders also all have part of their year 1 money as performance bonuses, so their AAV at signing was a bit lower($923k) than Sale ($950k).

Just catching up with this even though it was last week. I wish you could find a way to be more positive about incoming players. Maybe you don't like the contract, but I agree with the Vegas fan below, there are many positives to both of these guys. Dumping on them, especially Stephenson, is not a good look.

Wow. I know you guys are amateurs, but shocked at your lack of knowledge about The Kraken. 1. Kraken want to be hard to play against. That means all 4 lines. 2. Moving Yanni to “4th line center” is a good situation to be in. Furthermore, it’s hilarious you think Yanni cares. Speaks again to your ignorance about Seattle and our players. 3. This isn’t a stat problem. The issue for the Kraken has been “how do you get guys like Stephenson and Montour in the room” when they aren’t available in the expansion draft? These types of players have been exactly what The Kraken have been missing in order to have this team get to the next level. 4. How do you evaluate and monetize the potential value of these additions when it comes to developing our young players? You mention this like it’s an afterthought, but it’s a huge factor for this young franchise. Especially with all the great young talent in the prospect pool. Who is going to set the example? Vince Dunn? Jared McCann? Awesome guys, but I don’t think them alone. It’s really unfortunate for you to allow analytics to cloud all the great potential upsides, especially with regard to how these additions might dramatically help the performance of the team as a whole. And that’s what Ron Francis, the actual pro GM, has to concern himself with.

Adding Stephenson was an investment in Shane Wright and Matty Beniers.
@rickyaz8640
@rickyaz8640 25 күн бұрын
Here’s one for you guys: If you’re R Francis, would you offer Matty Beniers the Slafkovsky deal? (7.6 x 8) If you’re M Beniers, would you sign it? (It’s about 600k lower than the Powers deal) It’s probably No and No. Francis has the tougher call: if MB gets to 30 goals and 70 points he’s probably looking at 9 x 8 in a couple years. If he doesn’t, he’s probably not on the Kraken and neither is Francis

Other names I thought was worth mentioning: 1. Lleyton Roed looked really good, definitely is gunning for a bigger role with CV 2. Feels like Andrei Loshko is consistently very good when we see him yet is undervalued. 3. Really liked Clarke Caswell, really intrigued on how he develops. 4. Wisdom feels like he’s Tanev-lite but has better odds at scoring on breakaways. 5. Vedenpaa had moments where he looked good, especially on day 1. 6. Ostman was really shaky in the 5-5 scrimmage, wonder if Kokko’s gonna beat him out for CV’s backup goalie job if he performs.

For anyone questioning why you would want a million Centers, I love to point at Jared McCann as the example. Sure, he was drafted as a "Center" but the dude unlocked an entire new level when they moved him to Winger. When he had to be moved back to Center mid-season last year, we saw his offensive production suffer for it. Draft a "Center" and turn them into a 40 goal scoring Winger who is also defensively consistent and you have the makings of a truly exceptional player. Give me Centers all day if they have the potential to be a Jared McCann.

I'm with you guys on Caden Price, he looked great on day 3 when i was there... Yeah, just the confidence. He was jumping up onto the puck carriers and engaging in battles for possession almost immediately. It looks like to me that he should be ready in about the same time frame as Ty Nelson, but I'm no expert. He seems like a perfect replacement for Oleksiak on the left side, which is my hope. He might not be 6'5"+ but he uses his body to separate puck from carrier well enough for his size. He holds most memorable performance for me, which is pretty impressive with all the scoring that happened on day 3 😂

Vegas fan coming in peace, been a listener since I met RJ at the airport once lol. But I think you guys are too down on Stephenson. His speed, hockey IQ, and passing are are all elite. He also kills penalties. He was Vegas' 1C on some deep playoff runs and our 2C for the cup run. He makes the team better immediately. I do agree that there's a risk of blocking Wright and Berniers, which isn't good. And the term on the deal isn't ideal. But if you're looking to get back in the playoffs, your chances just went way up.

I agree with a lot said here, but I think this speaks to Ron and lots of GMs confidence that the cap is going to keep going up aggressively. After years of stagnation the cap is just going to keep going up, and I think in 5 years a good second line center is just going to cost 6 million.

Totally with Dylan on Stephenson. Ron is truly a Seattle GM cause he’s acting like Jon Schneider with the Seahawks. Big splashy overpays to older guys past their prime to make up for what you aren’t nailing in the draft. This is a bummer of an off-season. Why expensive 7 year deals to older players when you have so many kids coming up? Why Ronnie?
@ConfideKylie

Because if you want them this time of year, it’s a 7 yr contract or bust. Ron even mentioned that in his presser.
