I worry for my younger sister who has to travel to Korea for her job. Pretty country she says, but the people especially some of the men behave rudely and badly towards her. I pray for her safety whenever she's over there.

i used to be borderline a koreaboo, thinking korea was like perfect and stuff which is super cringy ik. i also have been into kpop & kdramas, and just into korea stuff in gen for a while too. but honestly the more i learn about the actual country the more dissapointed i am and the less i like k things. yesterday i watched the bbc burning sun doc and went on a deep dive on that whole thing after, which is why i ended up here. and damn wtfff. i think this might maybe be the nail in the coffin for me when it comes to liking korean or even asian stuff in gen (like i'm sure other asians countries are even worse). like if these comments and all the stuff i seen are fr then it means 50% of korean dudes are litteral sex offenders. and a big chunk of the ones who arent kinda agree with the rapists and mentally have more similarities with dudes from india or afghanistan in their visions of women then western guys. honestly this makes me super happy i'm white and not korean. would suck to be a korean woman if this how korean guys really are

People that advocate for those sex crimes will make sure to have an audience that doesn’t feel remorse for the victims. There’s lots of victim blaming, and personal exploitation, yet the people that enable this crime get to hide behind anonymity. Even if it’s just “digital” it causes a lot of trauma/abuse. They’ll mock the victim for being suicidal, and say they “deserve” to be violated, it enables r@p3 culture, where sexual violence would be a “vigilante solution”. Stalking/spy cams/negative humor/victim blaming creates a harmful mentality for humanity since they’ll spread this mindset amongst others.

I have no idea of the reasons these women moved there. But when the Teacher said it happens to a lot of her friends too at the Subway but they dont speak up because of fear of loosing their jobs... i was thinking like: why doent she leave the country?! as a teacher you ll be able to Support yourself financially somewhere else too? i dont know about the wages in Australia, maybe its different. but omg i would so sooo leave Korea if this is like a standard part of the society there. 😱 i mean it shouldnt be like this: the victim having the leave and the Predator staying. but if even the police doesnt really care and the justice system is messed up this bad... omg... i truly wouldnt feel safe living there as a woman. i didnt know it was that bad in Korea 😱😱😱😱

Trust me they have plenty of young English speaking officers as they learn English in school but play dumb and want to make it harder to report so it will be swept under the rug. So they act like they don't know English and only have a few small handful of interpreters. Just listen to one of the victim who said the interpreter was so annoyed with her and saying she is ruining everybody' lives. They don't want to help is the real problem not the lack of English speakers. That is the real problem that needs to be fixed and won't be easy.

It breaks my heart to hear these women tell their story of how they were treated when they courageously came forward only for the perpetrator to be found innocent. Like a slap in the face and the rapist saying ha ha you can't catch me and you lost. It pisses me off to no end. Especially the one woman who said the guy kept changing his story. That alone in any case is enough for me to find that person guilty. I mean at least keep your story straight. That tells me no matter what were not going to find him guilty. Why does she need to pay a lawyer to prosecute someone who broke the law? So if you are poor you can never get justice or seek redress? I am glad she did all she could and talking about what she went through even though it wasn't what the outcome we have hoped for. They want you to be silent. We can't be silent. We must fight for those who can't speak up and let them know we will never stop fighting until real change happens.

The cops know that is it rampant. It is not that they don't believe as they know it to be true however they want to hide it from the media as it will hurt their reputation and their country and tourism especially form foreigners who will be scared if the truth gets out. Also they figure these visitors can't fight the case as they are just visiting so they will just go home and that is that. They don't want to ruin these men's lives as they have family and maybe even in high positions and rich families so they protect them. Whatever the case may be it is disgusting and horrible and unjustified and they need to stop it and do better. People need to put pressure on the system for it to change for the better and hold anyone to account that continues this nonsense. Too much over sexualization in the Korean media and these dudes have no game and go berserk and attack women.

What the hell Korea you need to do better. Seeing a woman publicly groped and nobody does anything and just like at her like she is the problem. Nobody came to her aid or stop the guy. Disgusting and sad and makes me angry. When people do nothing.

Problematic community. The whole fundamental upbringing is questionable. Don't know why but I never liked watching Korean drama. Nothing amazes me. Japanese people also same. Very discipline and strict that's why all problem starts. Everything robotic systematic. U losing it in so many ways. Why not just be human.
