Learned something here👍 From now on only the Foreign Extra for me. I used to drink Draught Guinness when I was younger but have noticed changes over the years and not good ones. Great Video thanks

I seriously doubt that anyone drinks Guinness as a meal or even for any nutritional value these days.

Mate, medium-fine grind, 130ml of water. Small but strong heat source. Perfect results every time.

I'm still getting one for a pre-infusion and slow climb-down in pressure (the "lever" style). I think attempting anything morer than this would be quite pretentious for the reasons noted in this excellent video.

Yes, good eye. I hung out there regularly back in the 80s and remember it fondly.

Hi, thanks for the video but It is a flow control and not pressure control. The pressure is almost always the if you open the needle. But you measure the flow of the stock mushroom and then measure the flow at every 1/4 of the flow control. For example I have a rocket appartamento with flow control and in order to have the flow of stock mushroom I have to have the flow control needle at 1 1/4 (when it’s complete closed). For example the best recipe for me is to start with 1/4 for 6 sec then 1/2 for 6 more sec and 3/4 until I have the desire amount of coffee. Anyway thanks again for the video.

Visited the Guinness showcase facility/tour/tasting in Dublin 1999 - husband & (underage, lol) daughter loved it, but outside the excellent & fun merchandising, I was underwhelmed with the actual product.

Seems like the trend for profits in the uk is to use the original product name, yet to put in the product as little as possible of the original formula. As ever, the public are being conned.

Great video! Im considering purchasing either this grinder or the new atom W65. Do you think the extra cost is worth it in order to get larger burrs and the newer display? Thank you in advance.

I would extend the lever of the needle valve for more control. The round know is rather oddly short imo.

Hi, As an alternative to the wrench I’d recommend to buy a 36mm socket and, as an extra precaution, to wrap some tape over the moer nut until the socket fits snug.

I have one at home, and it only has to grind 20-40 grams per day, so I'm not in a hurry to tear it down. Thanks for your video and reports of your experience.

I worked with a guy from Ireland in the early 90's and Guinness is all he would drink. Years later he was drinking local beers and I asked why. He said Guinness was not Guinness anymore and was awful.

What your missing is this beer was invented by Klingons in the future .. it was brought back to earth during the making of StarTrek 4 on the confiscated Klingon cruiser .. it has properties we don’t have the tech to measure or understand yet.. it’s a warriors drink. Go harass Bud light obvious reasons….. and in about the year 2350 you will understand the Guinness composition…

Not touched it for years. Cloudy Craft IPA's from Microbreweries have oodles more flavour and range from 3% - 12% ⚠️ Guinness is just cold tea in comparison.

Couple of things. Nutrition is more than just macronutrients. You need all the micronutrients as well. Not that you can reasonably test these at home, but you ought to mention them. Current Guinness advertising does NOT make any health claims at all. The take home here is the history of Guinness. How the product has gone from a rich, malty ale to a modern brown beer. There is no longer anything that differentiates Guinness from any other modern “ale”. A very sad decline in a once unique and delicious product.

Guinness fans are a strange bunch. Full macro beer with no character, that they defend randomly. They’ve been marketed to, and Diageo’s 0:07 distribution power has kept it everywhere. Very few people would choose to drink this beer - they’ve just been tricked into thinking that they should.

If you drink beer on tap : 1). Sweet taste = not cleaning the tubes and theres "growth" in them 2). Sour taste = not flushing the cleaning mix out correctly

Apparently his taste buds are very different from mine. I drink Smithwicks and Extra Stout - very different tastes. I don't care for Guinness Draught because it tastes watered down and bitter. To me, Special Export tastes similar to Extra Stout but with whiskey notes. I've never cared for how Guinness tells bartenders to pour their products. I find higher carbonation to be more enjoyable.

I remember Guinnes when it had that nutty creamy flavour n texture Then 'D' took over & the taste of what once was a decent stout went down the pan ! All you now get in the UK is a watery liquid without any body (except when in Ireland) Hence I switched to chocolate plum or coffee favour milk stouts which are a delight to drink !
