I’m a new verified seller on Mercari. I sold a few items on there received positive ratings, then I almost got scammed by a verified buyer. They claimed empty box and made up some fake story about going to the retailer to buy it outright at full price. Lmao BS. They even left nasty comments under the sold listing using a fake account with 0s across the board after I blocked their main account. I had all the receipts and contacted UPS directly for proof. In conclusion, I won the case and funds were released to me. They even generated an automatic 5 star rating for me. 😂

Also they nearly always have 100% free delivery. I think it’s some way of “sending” the item through another service that’s not on Vinted and they always say it’s been posted within minutes of you buying.

That's ridiculous showing your NI number publically, as far as I'm concerned that's a massive GDPR breach and they shouldn't be showing that online. That's opening people up to fraud. I don't think vinted have got that quite right there!

People say they have been using it fine for years but as a first time customer of their site from one of their listings showing on a general google search and the fact they have ZERO way to report dubious items or sellers, have a buy now option, with the only thing warning you about fraud just says "pay through site, not offsite" nothing warning new customers about vetting sellers. This fosters scamming and even encourages them to keep on scamming. I've had to open a mail fraud investigation on the only item I've purchased off the site which has never delivered and tracking stopped updating on two weeks ago. I have 5 opened contact inquires on this purchase and have only received a canned response about waiting for the item to be delivered. You mention go straight to customer service but I'm going on 1 month of no real response and even though the package has not been delivered or updated in a while I just notice there is now a return label on the purchase now leading to even more confusion and frustration on my part. I think it's time I take the issue to paypal or even a fraud investigating with my bank as I'm at a loss on how to get my money returned..

It's not clear whether we need to register as a sole trader just for the purpose of carrying on selling volumes on Vinted or whether just providing the NI works as long as you have an old UTR

I know there was an issue with people's NI number being shown when signing up, but was there the same issue with the UTR number or have I got that wrong? I am new to reselling and currently have my vinted account on holiday mode as I do not want any new orders before signing up. I really don't want any personal details such as my UTR being visible. Thanks for any info.

Mercari is kinda sketchy with their rating system. I'm not a fan. Also if something smells like cigarettes and the seller didn't mention that, the buyer is just screwed because mercari can't "prove" that it smells. Then when your return request is denied, you can't rate the seller anymore. So they get to keep their perfect 5 stars after selling you shit. Ebay would just let you send it back and the seller wouldn't be out any money.

Don't buy on Mercari anymore. Aside from the tax and shipping charges, they will also charging now for rip off Processing fee and Service fee. The total price will ended up almost doubled.

Cross listing is definitely not a good idea. I sell on ebay and put same listing's on vinted. Vinted deleted every listing last night, flagging it up as commercial selling. They don't offer vinted pro in UK, so only want the wardrobe clearers, professional photos are a red flag, new items too, as are multiples in certain categories, making regular high volume sales every month will also trigger potential deleatng/suspending account

PRO TIP: as seller, after purchase, Ask the following questions to scamm buyers: - Are you happy with the condition of "x"❓️ - Are you aware you have the right address❓️ Now you're fully protected as a seller and them scammers cunts won't do shit
