You're great. I've gained a new perspective and new appreciation of the series based purely on the enthusiasm you transfer. Thank you, Aziz.

It’s too bad that his first name is also a family name in a way. Would people really think he’s just a random maester named after Aemond the Dragon Knight?

"For the first time in years he found himself remembering Rhaegar Targaryen". If R+L=J that quote doesn't make much sense. Surely Ned would regularly or at least occasionally think about Rhaegar and what it meant Jon was his son. This would have had massive consequences for the Starks and for Jon. For a start he was raised as a bastard, with Catelyn hating him during years. The king Robert would have wanted him dead if he knew he was Rhaegar's son with Lyanna. And also could have very important consequences for the future, more even if Jon was a Targaryen instead of a Snow. And knowing all this, Ned hadn't thought about Rhaegar for years. This seems to me like either a big mistake from George's writting or a big flaw in R+L=J theory.

Some of the handlings of marriages and such are just weird and wouldn’t happen in real life. Like one of the Stark sisters marrying some nobody from the Stormlands when just a Generation later the Northern Lords are bitching about Southern Ambitions? Bloodraven’s sisters, Aegon V’s sisters, why only some of the main Paramount Houses lines are so small and many more…

So good to hear someone else say they have little interest in a show covering Robert’s Rebellion. I see a lot of issues with that many recasts of beloved characters, this fan base fell in love with Milly in 5 episodes, the casting of young versions of that many GoT characters would be one of the most challenging a show could ever face. It’s the kind of things fans want, then when they get it and the characters don’t match their vision they’ll bash it to death.

So in a ASoIaF it is said that The Children Of The Forest don't fight. They "sing". From the TV show we learn that when the war between the Children and humans went bad for the Children they created The Others to fight the humans. We know that the Children also fought wars against the giants so who did the Children create to battle the giants? Humans?

What Ashaya said about it being tragic because he did live so long really resonates with me. This past spring my aunt died at age 102. The worst part was watching her get confused and lose track of when she was and who was there. It broke my heart.

IHave you guys heard anything about the anthology show that is going to use animation similar to the show Love, Death and Robots? I belvie I saw George post about on his blog and I am absolutely obsessed with LDR and think that would be an awesome show to depict some different parts of Westeros instead of just Targs.

Have you ever wondered about that statement regarding Maester Aemon... that as a Targaryen he could not be trusted? Was it Vaegar who set that precedent? or Saera? - surely it was Rhaela (who died treating that gray plague). I mean... what made "them" say that he could not be trusted? I think it was Aemon himself who repeated it... So which of the trueborn Targaryens was the cause of that precedent? ... surely not Maegor the Cruel? or Aenys the Weak? And Aemon didn't go to the wall until Blood Raven did, right? or do I have that wrong?? So - I hope you will cover the different locations of Aemon's service. All I can remember was he served at the Citadel on Dragonstone... but I'm not even sure THAT is right. Would he have gone to court to serve his father? I'm not even a quarter of the way thru this... so I hope you will get into it.

His tests - choosing Duty over Family. His first duty was as a Targaryen Prince and to continue the family line. However, he chooses to go where commanded and chooses duty to forge his links. 2.) Duty over Love - The Kingdom needed him to break his oath to the Watch and become a King. He chooses his Duty. 3.) His desire to break his oath to the watch to go to Dany and reclaim his Targaryen name.

Ironically, Egrit’s and the First Men’s view about incest is rather modern. Historically the incest taboo was not associated with genetics. The first recorded association between incest and genetic abnormalities is a book written in the 1500s. Meanwhile the incest taboo is likely prehistoric and it is the one universal human taboo/law. Simultaneously first cousins matches were considered ideal in property holding cultures. And the incest taboo was only expanded to the extended family in Middle Ages in a series of corrupt laws. Where leaders of the Catholic Church were deliberately making it harder to find suitable matches for marriage, hoping those without heirs would give land to the church instead. In nature incest is not uncommon many plants can fertilize themselves even. Some mongoose commonly breed with their sisters and daughters.. Prior to the Middle Ages the taboo was probably justified to reinforce social ties rather than discouraging heath problems. Finally, there is no need to invoke incest to explain Giant evolving into the diminutive Ibbanese. Reduction is common enough in evolutionary development. The shortest grasses evolved from the tallest trees. The evolution of grasses from conifers see the complete elimination of trunk or stem and dichotomous branching. Living on a small island with small caves could create the kind of evolutionary pressure to select for smaller builds. Furthermore evolution might not even needed to explain ibbanese assuming giants are there related Maybe living in small quarters keeps them from reaching the size of giants. The way fish will only grow so big compared to the bowl or aquarium they’re living in.
