Room with a View is really, really good, snd A Month in the Country is as sublime as everyone says (I was also nervous going on given the hype). I woll sdmit, I did struggle with the Tey novel because of my knowledge of British history or rather lack thereof! I hope you enjoy it more!

How are you doing mrs Cathie . I didn’t send comments to you from long time. Iam Arabic lady subscriber to several British and American KZbin channels. I have great news I want to share with you and all channels Iam subscriber to. Iam going to be English teacher in academy improving plan for weak students. I passed written exam just, few errors, but remains of me oral interview to be officially employed. This achievement due to your efforts you encouraged me to read and learn. I gathered main theme of book you mentioned and author biography briefly here it’s Alan Moore is British author known for his work in comic books such as watchmen , v for vendetta. He considered as one of best comic writers in English language. He also novelist , short story writer, musician, cartoonist , magician, occults . Jerusalem plot summary it’s exploration of both present and past( not mentioned possible future ) of his home town Northampton, England. Moore posts and afterlife where dimensions are different, dead can travel through time . Just as we can travel from physical place to another. Thank you for your wonderful cultural literary channel. Best wishes for you your dearest ones .

Hi Cathy, I love your chatty video and relate to it. My chronic pain has increased exponentially this past year and I also count my steps. Sometimes I can’t move at all, but I try to climb stairs and I go to a physical therapist weekly, when I can’t walk. My birthday is later this month when I will turn 74 so it is normal I guess to lose some of your vigor I am sometimes afraid of big books and I’m trying to get over my hesitation. For me, I think it’s A self esteem issue. Even though I was an ESL teacher, I went to college in my late 30s and although I did well, tackling a big textbook rattled me sometimes. I am doing an event this month, where I feature Maya, Angelou and other phenomenal women authors. I’m sure one of your books will fit my one prompt😊 I have a best friend like the one you describe where we can not see each other for a while and just pick up where we left off. Isn’t it wonderful to have friends like that? Sorry for the long comment. Just being me. Aloha friend and happy reading.

Dear Maya, I love long comments! Thank you! I will check out the Angelou read along, it sounds great! I celebrate my whole birthday month too! (61 in September), You're better at moving more despite pain! I just often feel tired and not really up to moving much. I'm headed to Germany tomorrow for a whirlwind week long trip the highlight of which will be my 40th highschool reunion on Saturday! I hope it all goes well. Happy Reading, Cathie!!

Thank you so much for this incredible review!! The topics the book delves into are of great interest to me, but I've been really intimidated by it. I assumed that the large number of ideas and thought exercises presented would be difficult to wade through, but your review makes me feel like it's totally accessible if you take your time with it. You've also given me some points to focus in on, as well. Awesome review!! 💜

I would like to read it! I know he hated the HBO Watchmen series, but I kind of liked it. At that point I did not know much about him. Glad you came across this video! I heartily recommend listening to Vance reading it. (Eventhough he doesn't have Moore's distinct regional inflections!).

Before ever reading him I always thought about Zola as a kind of forbidding writer who dealt with antiquated themes, but after starting Germinal recently, I’ve quickly realized how wrong I was. I don’t know that I’ll ever read the whole cycle, but it’s an attractive idea.

Nice to see you. Glad you're enjoying the summer vacation outside of the fatigue. An interesting mix of books! I have such a hard time with horror movies. I can read them but I hate the jump scares in movies with the sudden loud noises.
@thegrimmreader3649

I HATE jumpscares too. The Exorcist is so old it has a totally different feel to it though. Much more atmospheric. There may have been a jump shot here or there, but not many. Her transformation is truly shocking, but I think they did a good job of convincing us that she was a vessel for this spirit, it really wasn't her doing these things.
