I played gothic 2 numerous times and i love the atmosphere and the surroundings and the feel it has. Leveling up from 0 and getting stronger..but once i hit the part where i must go into a Valley of mines, i get bored real quick and never finish the game. For some reason that part feels unnecesary hard and tedious and not like Gothic 1 that i finished mulitple times.

Hardware limitations made us more imaginative and creative back then , now that hardwares are limitless and can produce infinite posibilities . our brain''s imaginations and creativity is slowly losing it's purpose thats why we are easily get bored in playing and creating because of this rapid improvements of technological advancements , our brain is starting to depends on technology ,and someday we will lose that ideas of being creative .

Thank you for this video. I also love this aesthetic. However we could define all 2d games as pre-rendered graphics. If we want to deepen this definition we could also say that it is pre-rendered 3D therefore generated from 3D software but rendered in 2D. But that's not all, if we take Donkey Kong country on Super Famicom it was the case and yet we are far from this aesthetic. A definition that seems correct to me to define this style would be 3d isometric realistic pre-rendered. Let me know what you think :)

No, I’m presenting an alternative for people who are fed up with boring open worlds. Sure, there are still occasionally good open-world games out there, but they’re few and far between. I think the semi-open world approach doesn’t get enough attention, so I’m making my case for it here.

I was a child when I used to play this. I wasn't able to understand English that time but still I managed to understand 70% of story. And oh.. boy It was my dream to get Reed's horse 🐎 when I finished @100% it's just popped up and blew my mind. I used to glitch myself at the starting point of the game to unlock a secret menu to replay missions. And I can't forget this line "Welcome to my domain kid"

I'd say a more recent one for me is Death end Re:quest. How about this plot for a game? Playing as a game dev that ends up fiddling with a buggy game that's still in development... Only to find out your best friend And co-worker gets stuck in the game as a character and you have to Program the game and debug it to get her back out. Sounds good yeah? Well, here comes the ugly parts, spoiler alert for anyone that hasn't played it yet that now wants to. Occult conspiracies with Graphically described (but not shown) deaths, some of which were self-inflicted, Several bad endings where the player, their friends or BOTH die, Scenes of implied torture with a bunch of Bunny masked cult freaks, Murders, Abuse, trauma, The literal apocalypse (no I'm not joking) and finding out the person you've spent this whole time trying to Rescue is Frickin' DEAD and you've just been Helping her Consciousness trapped in the game which is now Shut down so you basically killed her by accident, And all of this started over Basically an experimental Prototype Ai called Iris. Also, one of the most Disturbing Written but not shown Deaths I've ever experienced in a game that made me take a minute to pause and breathe through it because i got a bad case of tremors from it (Basically in these lava caverns you set a Bait trap to kill this monster, And if you leave to go find a save point or something, it Screws up and You Get a really Disturbing game over where Everyone basically burns to death slowly, descriptively, and horrifically. It... messed me up for a minute.) The good news? There's a happy ending if you fulfill TWO simple steps: do all the sidequests (which there's not that many) and Agree to help during the last boss. Also The girl that you were trying to save Is alive and well again in the good ending (all of them are.) but that'd take too long to explain why. After THAT traumatic Mess I'm glad there's a happy ending for everyone involved... SHEESH. Also one of the very few times an antagonist Actually Made me Genuinely angry because of how Messed up and cruel they were.

Pre-rendered graphics isn't a style, it is a technique. Many of the example games in this video weren't even pre-rendered. The graphics had been just designed with a traditional image editing software

Sim city 4 is for sure the best argument. I still want a true spiritual successor to sim city4. Cities skylines was an upgrade but i feel that the bar raises with time. It might be 20+ years still.

Unpopular opinion: The so called "pixel art" is easy to produce, this is why it has thrived instead of more complex retro games styles.

What's unpopular about that? Pixel art looks good to a lot of people and is very easy to produce

And you missed Senran Kagura?! Lol now that hits hard: a sexy funny slasher with anime girl characters, what could go wrong? Suddenly the game goes into some serious character development (along with some darker stuff already), and you likely have no idea why at first ;) Well, pretty much every game in the series ends in something heavy, but take the first one for example: once they set up that fun and naive atmosphere, next give you the feeling of the characters actually being alive (and making you feel sorry for harassing and beating them up), ofc the logical happens: the girls are all forced to freaking murder each other! And yes, once this happens, after the first "fun" fight still with the clothes destruction and all that fanservice the opponent bids her farewell to our protagonist and freaking dies off-screen, leaving everyone questioning in how could it happen! Well, with how it carries on like this until the finale (which is still a good ending, yet who cares at this point), along with shifting the whole game's setting into this murder-and-revenge theme is, especially in contrast with how silly it all started, just plain freaking perfect!

Great quick material on a very dear subject to my heart, I grew up playing diablo, diablo 2, heroes 2, heroes 3, so I love prerenders still got one little bone to pick, you just CAN'T say isometric perspective, because the concept of isometrics is something much different than a perspective, it's like telling ice to be hot, if you're interested read about euclidean transformation.

@@GameTalesHQ Great stuff, you'll go very far my man 💪, my polish life in the early 2000's was all about prerenders, Poland was freshly out of communism, and to say it mildly, stuff from around the world came in much later, I was privileged enough to live near the german border, so my much older brothers took me often to the Berlin flee markets and bought cheap SNES, N64 and PSX consoles, and thank our saviours from CD Projekt for localising such great Epics as Baldur's gate 1 and 2, also the Neverwinter series really really early, thanks again for shining light over my dear childhood memories.

All this with a team without 600 project managers, coordinators, 250 HR, 100 Leads, 75 "Art Producers" etc. etc. How astonishing that devs can actually think for themselves as adults and come up with their own "development plan". Quite shocking... I thought you need 600 project managers etc. for this...
