I don't understand. In order to obtain a model to use for creating masks with this method, your model needs to be already free of any backgrounds...meaning you need to have already masked everything.

Great teacher thank you! I found in the latest version of Substance, under Curvature, there is a dropdown giving you the option to create the curvature from the mesh or from the normal (deprecated). The normal option creates a more contrasty map which is good for masking diffuse detail.

Let’s suppose I have a normal map already set up of details of the face. From that normal map I got all my other maps so perfect. We are now ready to start texturing. Then, I realise I want to make some pores around the mouth and I use height. So the question is, how can I generate a normal map of only those pores ? I don’t want the info from the rest of the face. On my map i just want those pores. How can I do that ?

Hi there, thank you so much for all the work you did to help us. I've just finished this tutorial series and it is do in-depth, and we'll presented! I can't understand why your tutorial hasn't had more traffic than this, I subscribed half way through the first video! There are 2 things I'm hoping you might be able to help me with? Firstly, I understand the reason behind subdividing the low poly mesh before texture preprojection; you need as much subdivision as possible to project the detail onto. My confusion is if we are subdividing the object does it then become High poly, meaning we no longer have a low poly model? I don't think I'm quite understanding what subdivision does. Secondly, and pretty much along the same topic as the first question, what exactly is reprojecting doing? Of course its putting the finer details back into the 'low poly' subdivided model, but how is it doing that? Is it generating more geometry (which again sounds to me like we're stepping back into high poly territory) or is it faking detail in the maps? Thank you again, and I really look forward to see what else is on your channel xxxx

Frank, great video, thank you! One question -- what would be the benefit of creating masks after reaching the mesh stage, once past the stage of using images for the point clouds, etc? Is it related to building the texture/tile? Or possibly to start a new project with the masked images? Thank you :)

Great video man! I have an issue with motionbuilder 2019, It dosen't open fbx files from motive, well not right, it just shows the markers with no animation, and in mobu2018 I don't have that problem.
@1flpereira
@1flpereira 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I ran into the same problem. ASCII fbx It doesn't work in newer versions of motionbuilder from motive. You'll have to export as a binary fbx then zero out the joints into a t-pose at the first frame in animation inside of motionbuilder then characterized the rig. Hope this helps

I've been dying slowly for 2 days trying to figure out exactly how to do this and frankly , displacement maps and nodes scare me. Wish I could just make a turntable for my reel inside of Painter itself to side step this process but it only makes sense that I'd have to do it this way at some point. Thank you so much man
