Did you have to use a reamer to mount the new one to the knuckles?
@JeepTrailsandBarbellsКүн бұрын
@@davidmedina531 yes I did and you will have to as well, but get a good cutting oil. It will help to keep the reamer from over heating and cut a lot smoother. It will make it goes faster as well. Just keep your drill speed slow, so you don’t over ream it out. I used a caliper to measure out how far I need to go with the reamer then put tape at that spot so I wouldn’t go to far with it. Don’t stress it though it’s not a hard job to do. If you can use a drill you can do this no with no problems.

@JeepTrailsandBarbells21 күн бұрын
@@MarkGonzalez-w9o I have no complaints about it, we run 5.13s and there isn’t a lack of power when on the road. When in a heavy rock garden the 2:1 transfer case kinda leaves you wishing for a little more low end torque, but we have been thinking about either going to a 4:1 rubicon transfer case or an atlas 8:1 and that would eliminate any issues with power for crawling in a rock garden. Most obstacles or climbing there is no issue, just them dang old gardens lol. And if we are not carful on the road, going around corners we can spin the tires and chirp them around the corner. So I have never felt like I’m losing out. We also have the 6 speed manual. So I say go for it, it’s a really reliable engine.

@@JeepTrailsandBarbellshi again! Just wondering did the rough country gears make a difference on road / highway speeds? I hear mix reviews about rough country. Not sure if I should re gear my rear axle (Dana 44) w the rc gears, or Yukon.
@JeepTrailsandBarbellsАй бұрын
@@ghosty6783 they did make a great improvement, I run RC 5.13. I have a video out that I talk all about the difference between the 4.56 gears and the 5.13. We had Yukon 4.56 gears first and broke 5 teeth off the rear pinion, so we re geared to the 5.13. And we have been running them for over two years now. Keep in mind that’s with aggressive off roading as well. I think the 4.56 braking was a fluke, but for the money I would just run RC. To re gear with Yukon I was looking at 800 an axle, with RC I did both for 700. As far as it goes for RPM every gear ratio you go up your going to jump your RPM by about 250, so going from a 4.10 to a 5.13 your looking at an increase of 750 rpm. So that can effect your gas mileage on the free ways. At 75 MPH with a 38 and 5.13 gears it puts me at 3000RPM. If I was running 4.88 I would be at 2750 and with 4.56 2500 at 75MPH. The 4.56 wasn’t bad with the 38s but if your in the hills your going to be down shifting a lot. So going with a lower gear you’re going to have better torque but at the cost of high end speeds. So it all comes down to how you want to drive it, but the 4.88 would be the best for all the way around with 38s.

@@raymondwinans978 exactly, and well said. Most the time the biggest issue people have is linkage from the driver seat to the gas pedal. 😂😂 It’s all how you drive it, you go gun hoe on it you’re going to snap something, even with Dana 60s. Nothing is unbreakable. you push hard enough and everything has a tipping point. I like to upgrade as i go as well, as little needed to get out and have fun, then as you run into issues you can make better decisions on what you need to upgrade next. And that’s way better then throwing your life savings at it and then realizing you didn’t need to spend all that money.
@brianbanfield53972 ай бұрын
Well done! A very nice job. I was just wondering what angle you used for the slope of your roof. I believe 5 degrees is the recommended minimum but yours looks bigger than this. Also, why did you not allow for an overhang? Does this not mean that rain will cause some of your timber at the edges to get wet which could reduce its life?
@JeepTrailsandBarbells2 ай бұрын
@@brianbanfield5397 I used a 15 degree angle i believe. I didn’t put an over hang because the sheet metal I bought was 12' so when cut down it was 6' and that was not going to allow any overhang. The size up was 16' sheets and that drove the price way up. By not having any overhang the rain does drip down and hit the deck, but As long as you use treated wood it won’t change the life span of it.
