Damn - hope you got some armor under there from the way you wheel 😬

Nope lol, just what it came with. I know we are rough on it, but it holds up really good to the abuse.

What engine do you have in the jku?

@@BackcountryOutdoorsman7 we still have the stock 3.8 that come with it. Haven’t done anything to it but maintenance.

@ would you recommend getting a jku with that engine after owning it for a while? I’m looking at a few manual jku’s similar to your model. I can get a much better deal without going to the 3.6L model.

@@BackcountryOutdoorsman7 if it’s a 3.8 with a manual 6 speed, yes I would do that over the 3.6. But if you’re talking about automatic transmissions. Then you really want to get one with a 6 or 8 speed. The older ones only had 4 gears, so it makes the engine seam under powered. So if you get an auto with the 3.8 then I would do a transmission swap to save you a ton of gas money and have way better performance. When they put that 4 speed transmission in the jeep with 3.8 they thought the engine was the problem. So they changes it out to the 3.6. But then they realized it wasn’t the engine it was the transmission, so in 2012 they put a 6 gears with the 3.6 instead of 4 and lo and behold it fixed the power issue, but in 2018 they went to a 8 speed and that changed the the power output on the 3.6 so they kept the same engine in the new model. The 3.8 is way more reliable than the 3.6. But it burns about a quart of oil every 1000 miles. So if you get the 3.8 you will have to check your oil regularly. But it’s better than the oil filter/oil cooler getting a leak on the 3.6. If you can’t replace it yourself that is a common issue with the 3.6 and it’s about 1200 for a shop to fix. They also are very sensitive engines, so if you let the oil go low you can develop a tick, and that would be a rocker arm that has gone bad from lack of oil. The 3.8 is more forgiving than the 3.6 when it comes to neglecting it, but i still don’t recommend letting it run low. For the short answer, yeah I would get the 2010 with a 3.8 and 6 speed transmission all over again. Plus you can put a super charger on them for about 7k and boost the horsepower by 100 with basic hand tools in less than a day.
