Isn't the sticking point that such spectacles were inappropriate & finally got recognised when it started to occur to Australia's first female PM.

For all the good it did him. His charity to his opponents was one of his greatest weaknesses.

Abbott only came to power because of Turnbull, who was the highest in the polls at the time. He asked his electorate to vote for Abbott. Abbott never achieved his status on his own merit's. He borrowed Turnbull's electorate. Look into this carefully, you'll find that Abbott only got ahead due to Turnbull's support. After Gillard's misogyny speech, Abbott's electorate wanted him to resign from politics & dumped him. He left it's mark on his legacy's forever.

@@brantleyfoster021 What are you talking about? Neither Malcolm or Tony occupied the same electorate. Malcolm Turnbull was the member for Wentworth and Tony Abbott was the member for Warringah. Tony Abbott became Prime minister first amd was ousted by Malcolm Turnbull. And what has Malcolm Turnbull have to do with my original post?

After Gillard's misogyny speech, Abbott's electorate turned on him & wanted him to resign from politics. LNP voter's wanted Turnbull to replace Abbott as party leader, Turnbull was the highest in the poll's at the time. Abbott's polling slipped into the mud until Turnbull told his electorate: "Voting for Abbott is voting for the party where my influence lies". He said that in Feb 2013. His electorate listened to him & then started to vote for Abbott. Gillard's speech still left it's mark on Abbott, he was the very first PM to be voted in with a massive dissatisfaction rating. When Turnbull became PM by knifing Abbott, Abbott initiated some revenge plot's to get rid of him which got foiled by someone in Turnbull's camp. There was a leak that revealed Abbott was in for a landslide defeat against 2 other candidate's for the first role he had following his ousting as PM. Abbott went public about the leak being a huge breach of trust, as it revealed that Turnbull again asked his electorate to vote for Abbott so he could have a job within the party. So Abbott never succeeded based on his own merit's, it was Turnbull's merit's that kept saving Abbott. Once Turnbull resigned from politics, Abbott's political career was over for positions that required a electorate & he lost his remaining seat at Warringah to woman. He's tried to replace her again, but couldn't succeed due to a non-existent electorate & the woman stayed in his position as he slipped into obscurity. Abbott never had support from the start, his backer's had to save him every step of the way.

I can't believe people take what he says seriously. Some of his idea's on problems are good, but so many other people say this too.
