I just tuned in to the Election Debate and was bitterly disappointed. I was expecting this but was instead bored beyond belief. The unseen hands in the Labour faction seem to have said to Julia that they will give her support but only if she says and acts exactly what and how she is told. I don't like the new Julia, but the thought of Abbott as PM absolutely terrifies me. Vote Greens!

@aubhar If you dont tax the mining, you get heaps of short term jobs, then when the resources dry up, we have nothing. The overseas companies get 90 percent of the profits from our non-renewable resources. As over-seas deposits dry up, our coal/uranium will only increase in value as it becomes more rare.

@McKings11 - prior to getting my $900 stimulus payment I was living in a regional area of high unemployment and was unemployed...an attempt to relocate and find work in Melbourne was fruitless..unaffordable accomodation and lack of it didn't help..by taking the cash, heading overseas and gain employment I got myself off the 'dole' and saved taxpayer's money for the following 12 months...would you prefer I had done that or buy a 'plasma', a dozen cartons of beer and live the easy life?

@777sandyyy 6. You do realise Britain pulled in Australia, US and NZ because of it's alliance? Australia was only involved because it was legally obliged. AND the only reason this battle occurred was because of German/ottoman empire spread into the Middle East, in which they hoped to halt their enemies movements.
