The 1970 model was an updated 68-69 body. Am of opinion that was the high water point. This “bloated” body debuted for the ‘71 model year. Meaning Fall of ‘70.

Man, it would be nice to be able to bring a few of these wagons home. There's enough parts between 2 or 3 of them to build a decent driver. Of course it would need upholstery and carpet. But pretty much everything else is there

My parents had one exactly like this when I was little. I've seen old pictures and it's orange with portholes just like that one. I would love to have it just to see my mom's face when I pulled up in it

That was a nice looking black Z28 Camaro. Either 80-81, though with n90 rims likely 81. If its a manual it's somewhat rare too.

I had several pinto's. No Cruising wagons but a pewter color and 1 green with wood grain. A hatchback Runabout, white and orange with a Competition Cam (Crower) Hooker header and Edelbrock intake and 4bbl Carb. Just to name a few! They were virtually indestructible! By the 80's you could buy them for $100 or less. You have to remember, the type person that bought the pinto, were people that only put gas in them...and drove. No mntc. With only idiot lights, you only added oil or coolant if the red light came on!

They were pieces of junk and that's exactly where it belongs. They were never good and they showed how the American car makers went into the small car market kicking and screaming and the results are what you see here. No VIN, can't win. No tag, can't brag.

The death of the station wagon and the replacement with things like minivans and SUVs had to do with the CAFE standards. It wasn't because the newer vehicles were better at moving families. [edit to pluralize "standards"]

I've owned several Firebirds, but my all-time Favorite was my '68 Firebird 400 ragtop. It had an Muncie M-22 Rockcrusher 4- speed, a 350 posi rear end, with a Moroso sub-frame & suspension. It handled like a sports car & was fast as Hell. Lotsa good times racing around in that car back in the early '70's
