Yeah, I like Zadar - Croatia generally actually 😎

I was hooked after my first one years ago 😄. Cruises are a great way to see the World, and there are so many itineraries still on my list too. Next big one is Australia to Fiji later this year.

Firstly thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it. I’ve been on Explorer 1 as well - it’s slightly different than 2, but just as good. You can definitely just get off the ship and do your own thing in a lot of ports. In the case of Zadar they offered a shuttle bus for £6, but if there’s a few of you a taxi might work out cheaper. The old town was a long way to walk from the ship. However for all the other ports this cruise I just got off and had a walk. However it is worth checking out the ship’s tours as well - I met plenty of people who went on tour to Venice, the waterfalls and Slovenia - not something I’d risk in my own. People do book independent tours as well, which can be cheaper, but the ship only guarantees to wait for delayed Marella trips. As a tip if they offer a walking tour of the port I take that as a sign you can walk it yourself. Also check out street view on Google Maps to see where you dock. Mostly though have a great time!!

Yes it was my first cruise on Marella and have booked another for New Year on Voyager. It was so friendly and great entertainment

I do like the excitement of a new ship, but it was lovely this time having been before and knowing where everything was straight away. Have a great time!!

Thanks for watching, glad you’re enjoying them. Not sure of that port, but the one for Zadar was well organised. They started at 8.30am apparently (I was asleep!!) and last one back was 4pm ish - though they tell you the last bus times in the cruise news and when you get off the ship. You can come back when you want. Tickets were £6 return and It was first come first served in the bus queues. You’ll see that one on next week’s episode!!

Ordinary tea & coffee are free in the buffet (or make it in your cabin) and soft drinks like cola on draft are included (they’ve also lots of mocktails & other non alcoholic drinks, plus Heineken Zero lager) Premium Drinks include the posh coffee at The Coffee Port - I don’t drink it, but I think you can pay as you go if you’re not on Premium (might be worth Googling a price menu to see if it’s worth it to you). You also get cans of Coke etc if you like certain brands. Premium also covers branded spirits which is why a lot of people really like it, but you wouldn’t get that value.

@@gary_travels thanks .. i do drink a lot of coffee and pop so maybe better to pay that extra . 2 people for 160 its only like 10er a day i will spend more buying it ..

I’ll let you have Plonker too - I called myself far worse 🤬🤣 The Bluetooth mics are QHOT Lavalier microphones from Amazon- they are sound cancelling, but I forgot to turn them on once and cancelled all the sound (Plonker again!!). Jury still out as they can sound a bit tinny, but it does cut out the wind noise.

Depends what you like - I’m a lager drinker and in the basic package had San Miguel, Peroni (red label), Holstein Pils, Boston Lager, Fosters on draft and a few other random ones. If you’ve upgraded to Premium they had Sol (though they gave that out when San Miguel ran out) and Heineken - there were ciders too - not sure about bitters or ales sorry. Had plenty of wine & Prosecco too!! I never went thirsty 😃 Hope you have a great time - I really enjoyed myself

Thank you!! I just ate as I went. You have the option of evening tours (it stays light) so I kept it flexible. Food was easy at all the hotels. Copper River was the quietest place, and we were the first tour of the season I think so a bit disorganised, but the scenery is beautiful and it was first stop of our week, so it eased us in and everything just kept getting better. For me it was worth having a full week on land, but that’s the one to miss if you haven’t the time. But you see other places on the road too, so if you started in Fairbanks you’d miss that whole route too.

P.s. I would definitely go back - it’s awesome!!

Oh yes, it can be as cheap to go abroad as it is to have a weekend in London, but I still think it’s worth it every now and then. This was a bonus trip, but I loved being back straight away!

I’ve read comments on social media about this - I wondered what they were talking about! Didn’t notice any smells and personally I found it a lovely ship. That’s a nice itinerary! Iceland is very nice and I’ve done some of Scotland too. Enjoy!!

It was an epic adventure - definitely recommend it!! Fortunately the expensive beers were in dollars - so not real money 😆
