So it isn't just me. I'm struggling to get mine to securely hold a cylinder square without opening up.
@ShadonHKW10 сағат бұрын
We thought we had bad centers, so we reworked both centers and did a bluing check. We found that the centers were pushing out, overcoming the spring pressure in the headstock. Tightening the spring knob would keep the part spinning true, but the motor didn't have the power to overcome the added friction
@Clough424 сағат бұрын
@ShadonHKW yeah, the spring pressure isn't sufficient on mine, unless I tighten it down hard against the fully compressed spring, but then there's no ability to compensate for thermal expansion, and you have to unscrew the adjustment knob to get it in and out.

I don't know what I would put on a stencil off the top of my head. But, I think it is a great idea. Maybe do a bulk pack of maybe 5 to 10. If nothing else, it is a great way to keep that fabulous old machine in use. Happy New Year Stan. 🎉🥳

How is no one talking about this? I get the whole linesmen and flat head thing but is this actually a viable option for those who wants a tool dedicated to locknut?

Everything in this video was spot on except grinding the table and chuck without coolant. If I was you before I did anything major I would grind everything with coolant.

I use a brown Norton wheel for my chuck and other soft material. That’s the wheel type Norton makes for soft steel, cast iron, brass, aluminum, magnesium and of all things, stone. I find that it doesn’t smear the brass or other soft materials. This is a 60 wheel, medium density. It doesn’t load much and wears about average.

Do you still have your old V10 truck? That Natchez trace connected to Boones wilderness road that led into Kentucky supposedly around 1800 at least 10000 Kentuckians a year floated down the ohio and Mississippi rivers to New Orleans to deliver their crops and goods then walked back up. By 1830 the steamboat had virtually eliminated that practice as it was much safer to ride the boat and easier. It was very common to get robbed on the Trace since they knew people had sold their years products and had money.

Hey Brian, Sold the V-10 with 345 K (original miles) on it, really wanted to switch to Cummins, so glad I did. The V-10 would pass everything but a gas station.
@bcbloc0215 күн бұрын
@ the few guys I knew with them got like 8mpg loaded or empty but they all seemed to hold up well. I rarely saw any over 200k cuz most everyone switched to a Cummins for pulling. Then they got like double the mileage.

why did he start at 9 inches first? where did he get that number from? i get the 2 inch increments but why choose 9 as the number?
@ShadonHKW15 күн бұрын
9 inch was the distance from the first pipe to the unistrut
