I noticed you didn't attach a tie-down from the nose of the paddleboard to the fromt bumper of yiur Jeep, as shown in the Yakima product video. Is that just overkill?
@kristapatterson314
@kristapatterson314 11 күн бұрын
The front tie-down is just an extra precaution. The only time I have used one is on a long distance trip with lots of highway. If you want extra security then it's a good option but I have never lost a board with just the cross straps in my 10+ years transporting boards. 😊

@kristapatterson314 I used the tie down for my 250-mile haul and 11 ft. board as a precaution, but I really don't think it did much except move around and make me nervous. The actual board never slid or changed position. It was such a cool invention I discovered through your video. Thanks!

Hellllp lol. I'm searching everywhere and can't find my answer...I have a manual pump and have ordered 2 electric pumps but the nozzles aren't the same size? One was too bag and the other too small😫 my arms are killing me because theres a leak somewhere and I can't pinpoint it. Whats happening with the fit of these nozzles??? I can remove the O ring and hose from the manual pump, but thats it. And my current hose doesn't fit either of the 2 electric ones that I returned?🤦‍♀️

@northwestpaddleboarding5343 I never made it that far because both nozzles (different companies) weren't the same size as I have on the manual pump? One of them the actual plastic nozzle was wider so it wouldn't fit in the hole and the 2nd one was a bit smaller (thinking air would seep out of the sides?) so I just packed that in back up and returned it as well. Do you think the smaller nozzle would've worked, with the right size O ring?

@northwestpaddleboarding5343 It's actually not a board, it's a pool cover that the company cowboy pools contracted out to make custom covers for their clients...it runs off the same idea as the paddle board, genius actually😁 (except I have an undetectable leak) The owner of the company sent me a link to a Tuomico pump (I wanted rechargeable or wall charge, not car charger) it's the 25 PSI model on Amazon but it 169.00, nooooo thank you lol. Anyway, THAT nozzle doesn't even have a size? And BTW, thank you for trying to help me😊

@@Give-it-to-God gotcha! The Halkey Roberts valve (typical valve for a paddleboard) doesn't have multiple sizes. It's just the o ring that can be thicker or thinner. That price for a rechargeable 12v pump is average. Especially one that can inflate to 25 psi. You are likely going to need one with battery clips or an accessory plug to be in a lower price point.

Thank you for this comparison. Some useful insights. I have had a hard paddle board for quite a while. I was under the impression that an inflatable was slower and more cumbersome (I did have a go with a cheaper board and really didn't like it). I recently bought a high quality touring inflatable. OMG, it is amazing. So solid, fast, lightweight and durable. Night and day from the old bath tub that I tried out. The one thing I do love is the ability to hike into a location with my deflated SUP in it's pack with paddle and pump etc, and experience paddling some beautiful remote locations with nobody else around. I could not do that with my hard board. It is great to have both options now.

How do you repair a bubble in the bottom of a board
@northwestpaddleboarding5343
@northwestpaddleboarding5343 5 ай бұрын
Unfortunately a bubble on the bottom of the board is a bit more complicated so I don't recommend touching it. If it was on the deck pad, you could gently cut through and slip some vinyl cement in there. On the bottom, you risk cutting into the board itself. It sounds like a warranty issue but to avoid further bubbles don't let your board sit in direct sunlight or be in excessive heat for long periods (like in the trunk). Hope that helps!

These are KILLERS!!! My girlfriend was knocked off her SUP while preparing to get out to walk around a class 2 rapid in the river. When she was getting off her board the water was moving fast enough to make in on top of her board and sweep it away from her, the current and force pulled her foot out and she began being swept away by the current. She just had major spinal fusion 6 months ago and Id rather die than go home without her. I grabbed onto her trying to save her as we both began flying with the current, ankle leashes attached, down a class 2 rapid. The boards went over a rock, she went under. By the grace of God, being behind her gave me time to make it up the rock. I watched in complete horror as she desperately tried to find air and undo her ankle leash all while the current pulled her underwater. Even with a life jacket and experience, the water pulled her so fast and hard she was only forced under the harder she tried. I undid my ankle and dove straight for her ankle, clinging to it for dear life. I released her and grabbed the boards as they began to float away. What happened was a miracle, one only made possible by years of experience on the river. I literally almost watched the love of my life die in front of me, aware I may never touch her live body, feel her breath, hear her beautiful voice. She is having PTSD over the incident and it's been made pretty clear she was only seconds away from death. Please take this video down, do research on leashes and please advise correct leash use. NEVER WEAR AN ANKLE LEASH IN MOVING WATER!!!!! Use a waist breakaway leash system. The contact point higher on the body prevents the head being forced under by current and the breakaway happens when the pressure is much. No board is worth the love of your life's breath. Please for someone's spouse, child or friend who's ankle leashes gets stuck, correct this information and please inform people about the fatal dangers of improper leash choice and usage.

Good tutorial. But... First, why not to use portable air compressor for tyres with an adaptor? Adaptor costs really cheap and compressor with regulated pressure limit in PSI is also not expensive (in my country the good one is about 25 usd). However, you will save a lot of time and stamina. Second, you switched the gauge on your pump to a single action. Better explain peolple why you did that) Good luck, babe.
